I have a 18ft CLX very good, would buy again, but if I was you I would get some glue in for the clamps.

I have been using "serious glue" £4.99 from B and Q.  Easy to use.

First time lasted a day but then I "scratched" the pole up a bit and it lasted about 10 days. Done the same again and now still ok after about another 2 weeks.  It is the middle clamp that comes unstuck on mine...

I rang Gardiners and they sent me some 2 part araldite stuff but you need a very small  mastic type gun to use it and the instructions are in such small writing I couldn't read them, as I didn't have a magnifying glass.

I am 52.

I have been using fishing poles for the last 2 years or so.       Also got a Jeff brimble Pole. But always a niggle somewhere.

Just wanted a change.

Agree about Gardiners though. No excuse for crap glue and it has been going on for months.

Jeff's pole is ok. I knew what to expect.  It is basically  a fishing type pole but without the bother of having to put it together, as it is taped up , u need to see a photo. Once you get used to it,    it is really handy and also extremely  light. Apparently it is a prototype so not a bad attempt.

I now use a 18ft CLX for normal, before I used a gangster pole (minus the last section for normal houses).

I only use Jeff pole for the slightly longer jobs.  Anything big I get out  the F16.

Hi Gav, I prefer the  18 CLX when the glue holds. But Jeff's pole is a cheap and easy way to  go higher. As I have been modular for 2 yrs or so I can add gangster base sections etc  to make it higher although it gets too whippy for normal use.

Fishing poles are less whippy and they don't collapse like Jeffs's pole does sometimes.  But for intermediate jobs I quite like it  I have the hose on the o/s so that I can add sections.

Anything higher I get the F16 out. Just wanted a change from fishing poles. They are brill but I needed a change.

22ft clx excellent pole!had 1 clamp break due to over extending it at an awkward angle a few months ago but no problem with clamps coming unstuck!

ill be trying a 25ft slx  the next pole i get just for the rigidity and extra length though.

;D  ;D JSM I have a 30ft slx too, no problems either but my mate who ordered his a month later has had several different clamps come unglued. Im ordering the 22ft clx to replace a 2 yr old xtel which has still got quite a bit of life in it surprisingly. for a shorter every day pole im not sure the higher price tag of the slx is justified.  ;)

Daz why dont you try a 30 or 35ft slx it hardly seems worth spending all that money for 3ft? Dan  :)

I occasionally get spinning clamps on my SLX - just reglue. If it happens when you are working just put a bit of gaffer tape round until you get home.
