he had crappy wooden frames so this time round he had installed new pvc self cleaning glass and Anglian told him not to have them cleaned  as it can damage the windows or something crazy like that..

The customer is quite new so it could be an excuse to cancel but still makes me wonder if and why on earth would Anglian say that.

The only thing i can think of is as he pushed for a sale and said self cleaning glass dont need cleaning but it does right

coz the windows mite leak and they def will clean them (either themselves or us) and when it does they can turn round and say "we told them not to clean them, but YOU the stupid customer only went and cleaned them and destroyed the windows, now the wind and rain is seaping right in....windows arent designed to be waterproof, read your terms and conditions missus".

I've seen self cleaning glass on cruise liners but never heard of it on houses before.

I have a customer who had all the large doors in his swimming pool replaced with this stuff. I used to clean in and out but he told me to stop cleaning inside as it "will no longer need it"

I dont mind as I still charge him the same and now have 10 large panes of glass which I dont need to clean.

They have been in for about 6 months now, and they are minging ha ha

I give it till christmas before I am cleaning them again 

Oh well the break was nice while it lasted.

one of my customers had "self cleaning glass" on a sun lounge facing the sea. After two weeks she had me round to give them a clean as they were covered in salt. All i had to do was rinse the glass easy money

Self cleaning glass still has to be cleaned,just not as often. The window firms lead people to believe thats its 100% maintenance free,which of course it isn't. Its meant to be cleaned without the use of chemicals so wfp is ideal

Hmm this self cleaning glass could be an advantage as we could offer a spray over and leave it so we wont need brushes to clean those type of windows and we all be even quicker with wfp..

As mentioned - even if the glass biodegrades the dirt (which it won't unless it gets wet all over) then it goes to the nice white frame.

Where it is useful is shopping mall roofs and hi-rise buildings. Waste of time for domestic custies with the possible exception of conny roofs.
