i was looking at getting a kick ass site but it would have cost me about £700 so after alot of thinking i didn't see the point i am a one man band doing residential cleaning only plus i look after my kids so for the next three years i can't go at it full blow because school holidays would be a total nighmare.

my site is http://erithwindowcleaning.co.uk/beta.html still a working progress though

That's the cookie I still don't see the point of having one as it could put people off before you sell your service

Ok, if that's the way you want to do it then fair enough think you'll find tho if your more upfront and sell your service more then to put people on the spot with your pricing then you will do allot better overall.

keep it simple and say "Would you like a window cleaner?" after about 50 NOs you'll get quite thick skin but keep going. And always be up front with prices and once you get a few interested you will want to keep going, but be prepared for the lows those that cancel change their minds,it takes a while and hard work to build the round up.I started with nothing didnt even have any window cleaning tools but went out and canvass 2 weeks solid,I did have previous experience and had a start of a round, brought some work as well.

Why bother with the world wide web, if you`ve no transport?
I would aim a bit closer to home.

The website looks good, the only thing I didnt like is the price list - I would completely remove the "£ CALL" phrases.

Re knocking on peoples doors - I'm the same as you Ant and not really into that. I would rather drop of leaflets.

You were saying that youre planning to do a logo - can I ask what kind of program are you planning to use for that? I'm in a similar position, just starting with my website and need a good logo too but have no idea how to do it. I have it in my head but dont know how to put it on my screen  ???

to be honest mate if you know what you want you can get something properly done for under £50, you need a program like illustrator that can make vector formats which basically means you can use it for a logo or sighn writing etc as it can be made into any size without loosing the detail.

i have transport as of thursday i got myself a old s reg berlingo  ::)  french crap so something will go wrong within 6 weeks u see. BUT it was what was about and im desperate.
the logo im going to use photoshop cs4 or something, just find a logo online i like and change it about, as for the ruff guide to prices on the site im going to remove that page completely i think. the £CALL bit i dont know what to put in its place, its a guide to prices so what goesin its place?? just leave it blank
