Slumpbuster,

Me and our Dan wont fall out over it - in fact I dont think we will even speak about it but his comments came across and must have made me look bad for me to be called a scumbag and a rip off merchant and then he agrees with them.

He has washed his dirty laundry in public a bit I think.

Sean I agree it has gone completely off topic but again my ego is massive  :P

I`m going to have a massive ego tommorrow and be the worlds greatest window cleaner/businessman  when i do my first customers for the 2nd time (6 weekly). Now if i had bothered to get some customers in between i already would be the top man but i got a bit distracted though i reckon coming on this forum every night still counts as progress.

i said ripped off  as from his story it came across as he paid 10 times what something was worth then lost most of it

i apologise,

it seems he lost a lot of work because of himself, and this might be why he had a lot of name changes,

he shouldnt of heard his washing in public,

Sean,

You wont go far wrong on here mate as there are loads of knowledgeable people on here to help you.

Even though I'm not in the industry anymore I also help you all I can if need be.

Blue Monkey

Your apology is very welcomed and accepted.

A few comments from people saw there is no harm in what hes said but Dirty Windows called me a scumbag so that is proof its come across in a way that I done the wrongdoing.

Glad its sorted and the name changes are clarified.

Think I would have started out with a bigger van from the start and spend more time kitting it out before starting to use it.

Also wish I had started WC about 10 years earlier when I first thought about doing it.

I think Starting earlier than what you originally did is something everyone in window cleaning will be saying.

with the current climate I think businesses will be worth a lot more as construction has slowed right down and to canvass a good compact round is difficult as a lot of people being laid off etc are turning to window cleaning cos they think its easy.

Someone with a good head on their shoulders would make a killing at this

Its a case identifying the opportunity at the right time i guess

What Im saying is it is very hard to canvass a good compact round like it was in 2000 - 2007 and those who are lucky enough to have a good compact round already should find that their work is now worth more.

It is possible and I dont want to give off negative vibes for new starters at all in fact I wish you all good luck, but it is now more difficult now to build a round from scratch of good quality compact work than it was years ago with construction booming etc and I have a very good sales and marketing background so I would say anyone starting in this business with limited funds is to go out get stuck in to door knocking and build a good a round as possible and when you are richer buy up what work you can.

It all depends on what your goal is in my point of view.

I am quite young, 25 years. Started with running a company as 18 year old.
Learned a lot the earlier years - was running a company with several that was 30ish.
We were running a tech company that developed stuff.
But my life was all about work and parties. That life I do not want again. Then I tried to be a regular employee for 6 month - was going to write a long lasting contract, but a guy that I knew a bit called me just when I was going to sign - if I wanted to work for him.
After some rounds with my self - I thought "why not just start my own company again".

So now I have been running this for almost 2,5 years. I have learned a lot, in these two years also.
I like expensive cars, so I went down that road. Have learned my lesson there.

If I were doing this all over again there are something’s that I would do on another way:
- Start with really good software (like service ceo) and some good accounting software.
- Also hire someone to do everything with invoices and stuff like that.
- Just sell all the time to commercial, and checkup what the employees are doing.
- If i were going to residential - I would have a really good webpage with form that they have to sign contract and everything. Less paperwork than signing written contracts.
- Get a proper uniform as soon as possible.

There are a few thing there, something that are good to start with....

There are of course a couple of things more that you just have to learn the hard way ;)

And yes, I also went WFP recently - Nice thing.
But do NOT buy van mount and a trolly...... The trolly have only been tested one time.....

Hey Ronnie,

I am really pleased for you and yes I know your thoughts  ;D.

I love to be proved right and just like I said if you play your cards right you would get more sites and you did.  I take my hat off to you and still wish you all the best.

I might see you in St Helens or even the Trafford Centre ;).

All the best
