just put a add for a canvasser
« on: August 18, 2010, 08:16:02 am »
on a commision only basis,im going to pay them £5 for every regular customer on completion of first clean.
want to get someone out 10 hours a week in the evenings and i will also be out knocking too.
does anyone else do this?
i need to pack my full time job in and do the windows full time.
im building a decent round up but must try harder and push it further.

Canvassing should turn up at least one new customer per hour so a fiver plus per hour equates to similar wages paid elsewhere.
However, I would be a bit concerned about the quality of the leads but you have to just work through thatm

A fiver an hour equates to similiar wages my arse!

That kind of money is only going to attract foreigners. I love reading the money people pay on here but wouldnt dream about working for that rate themselves.

So, anyway, when Jonny foreigner turns up to do your menial canvassing work dont start harping on about 'bloody foreigners nicking all our work' because with those rates you wont get any 'home-grown' staff.

£5.00 an hour at night  ??? ??? ??? :o :o

Its a good idea.  Not sure how the comm rates will pan out.  Normally comm only jobs are worked out on the product that is being sold of being high value returns in commission rates.

So your canvasser is going to have to do high volume calling.

well said and very very true,

if I were gonna do such a thing I would go through the job centre and place an ad for a se;f employed canvasser and sign the job centre agreement to say I was gonna pay at least the minimen wage which is what you have to do,  but I would pay them £10 per hour for 10 hours a week work.

if they didn'tr get you work in the 1st week then I lose £100 and not use them again,   however an experienced canvasser ( doesn't matter what area of canvassing  )  would bring in work in the first week.

as far as I'm concerned if you treat people with respect and pay a far rate for their services they will DELIVER,   pay them a miserly wage and treat them like dirt and you get what you get.

Clee what happens if they work 4 5 or 6 hours and blank, would they get nothing?
And if you are still on the sick and think 4 custards an hour is possible, would it not pay you to get the work.

I pay mine 1.25x 4 weekly work and 1x 8 weekly, averages £100 a time, If I offered him £5 a job he would tell me where to go and I would lose him to a competitor.....

I'm not on the sick anymore else I would be knocking doors.
If they don't get work they don't get paid.

I am not sure about this as I am completly new to this and planning my cancassing carefully would it not be better to do it yourself but knocking each door, Ithink it is harder to say no to someone face to face as opposed to a simple leaflet through the door the canvassing will take a great deal longer but maybe someone can clarify the success rate of signed up customers as opposed to a simple leaflet drop especially in an area you know they have no Window Cleaner.

Clee windows, you wont get anyone who's any good on that deal. At the rates your talking you're wasting your time.

Gaining good paying work costs money. Oh and if you can find a canvasser who will get you 3/4 jobs an hour on a regular basis he/she's worth £30 minimum an hour plus commision on the clean.

But good luck,

Mark

atleast that way you lose nothing, after the first month your quids in.
Do you pay them nothing if they get no jobs for you?
How sucessfull are they?
how many people do you have working for you?
how much work to they pick up for you on average per hour?
cheers m8

If you pay someone the equivalant of 1st clean then there prices should be quite good, if they where getting £5 a job the chances are they will be really cheap just to earn money, so a house worth £15 a month might get quoted at £6 just so they earn as they wouldnt care what you earn but if they no there getting a minimum of 1st clean a £15 job could turn into a £20 job as they will earn more....
