« on: August 08, 2010, 09:40:24 pm »
A question to you guys that have the NVQ, do you state your are qualified on your flyers/website?
Also have you noticed an increase of business becuase you are qualified?
Just a couple of questions as I am going to start stating this on my flyers.

Do you really belive that stating that you are a NVQ qualified window cleaner on your leaflets may help generate an increase in your buisness?

Out of interest have you any idea of your bin mans qualifications or your postmans and are you bothered?

I hold a university degree but I think my customer would and do laugh saying why do I do windows then? They don’t expect us to have any education.

I'm the same and do find the 'stigma' to be quite funny

I'd put qualifications on commercial canvassing letters & on the commercial bit of my website,.. not on flyers targeting residential work though as it mya put ppl off thinking you must be expensive.

I am stating on my flyers that I am city and guilds qualified, this is because city and guilds issue out the NVQ's.
So i am not falsifying that I am city and guilds qualified.
I was thinking it looks more professional, and most people know what city and guilds are, also I think it will catch peoples eye, as it is unusual for window cleaners to state they have qualifications in Window Cleaning.
I can gaurantee that other window cleaners will mock me for the fact I have a qualification in Window Cleaning.

Matt my part timer has a svq (Scottish equivalent) of NVQ but I have not got round to advertising the fact yet so keep us updated on feed back, I am more thinking of mentioning it on commercial marketing than residential to be honest.

Stu, I am advertising it to both, reason being I have picked up commercial work from dropping flyers to residential customers as company directors and proprietors have had them posted through their doors at home.
I will keep everyone posted on whether it makes a difference or not.
I had a meeting with a sales rep from a company in Leicester about advertising on their website and brochure, they are similar to "trust-a-trademan.com"
They have very stricked policies that you have to follow, you have to submit 2 referees, show proof of liability insurance and any qualifications.
It looks very good.

 ;D ;D ;D

I am also stating on my flyers that I offer gutter cleaning/clearing.
I state on the there that I "video 'before and after' the gutter clean, this serves as proof that the gutters have been maintained properly."
Just thought it might win customers over as they can see I have cleaned them. lol
What are your thoughts on what I have put there Stu?

Matt I do the same, only ones to knock it will be the ones that dont have it, I use everything to my advantage, better to have than not to IMO.

Hope your doing well fella.

Hi Ian, yeah I am good thanks, and yourself?
I have moved back up to Leicester. I still have my round in Essex, I have moved out of my girlfriends, she is still a partner in the business and we both agreed that it would be best to keep the business going down there.
So the past month I have had to design another website, use another company name, open a second business account at the bank and advertise like mad up here in Leicester.
No rest for the wicked lol
Ian how do you advertise to the commercial sector?
I am going to be phoning round care homes tomorrow.
