Agree with the 95%, and like you say, if you need higher, use higher pole all through, not gonna go back and forth to swap and change.

ewan the harris is no good if cleaning 3storie type town houses..
anything lower which 95% of my work is then there is nothing faster.
try yours again, but dont use the clamps slacken them off.
let the pole hose hold it up.
then come back and tell us what you think, till then you'll never know will you

fair point ewan and i will concede that as well. but my carbon fibre pole will last years due to only being used when necessary. and i can work as quickly with the harris any way. i also concede that if my round was large houses with big cons and awkward windows that the harris would probably be redundant

i suppose we all use the right tool for the job, but all our jobs (rounds) do differ from each other.

the harris pole 16ft no4 xt-l 5ft  plus your own average height 6ft  total  26 to 27feet  £50 total price to make  :o

Jouk45, CF pole 32 reach less than 6ft closed and about 2kg in weight: About £500 total price to buy.

Costing you an extra £450 over DIY Harris, you have to gain 3 minutes each day to gain back the £450  :o

i get what you are meaning ewan, 3 mins a day, how many of us waste more time chatting with the custys per day, at least 3 to 5 mins lol

Ewan,

I like the Harris; it's a class pole for the money.  It's tough, robust, and cheap enough to buy a couple of them.  And although I do like the look of the £600+ carbon fibre poles, I'd be frightened to charge round with them the way I can with my Harris.  I can bang it about, use it as something to lean on if I've got to negotiate a wall (ie climb on it or jump off it), and because it's cheap, I don't have to 'baby it'.

I bet there's no real time saving.

i agree with tosh...batter the blazes out of it if you want coz they are only 15 quid a pop....sure you can do the same with your carbon fibre pole, just make sure you can afford to replace it every 6 months.

i reckon you can make ANY telescopic pole clampless by removing the clamps/levers or keeping them open and you could compete with the harris for speed, but the harris ticks the COST box for me. 8)

Never had any problems with mine, and would rate it over other poles i have used. No i havent used EVERY pole on the market, but it fits my needs and cant really see what the fuss is about,
