We've all had those annoying flyers offering £10 carpet cleaning - but this guy has gone one better WITH A WEBSITE !!

It has to be seen to be believed. http://    www.carpetcleanersinchesterfield.co.uk/

Feel free to call and book him solid....................and remember, you tell him what you want to pay !

Unfortunately the **** is close to me.  ???

ohhhhhh i could ................................ !!!!

Shaun it's not you is it ?  ;D

A gentleman called Mick Bullous? I have not heard of him myself.

Interesting concept. It must have worked elsewhere though

You tell us how much you want to pay for the service!
That's right - You tell us what you are going to pay, not us tell you how much we are going to charge.

You're probably not going to believe me on this, but I thought of this idea about 2 weeks ago.
It's not as mad as it seems. Simply someone says I'm willing to pay £100 for a suite clean and of course you're round there in 10 minutes ;D
The next person says I'm willing to pay £30 at which point you call up any one of 100 excuses why you can't do it before 2014.
All you're doing is getting customers that YOU want with the added benefit of 100's of calls which you take the upper hand on.
Simples.

Neil,

I'm sure I've seen this somewhere in a marketing newsletter (or similar). I just can't remember where.

when they say they want to pay £50  for the suite clean you give them £50 of your time, if they want to pay £80 they get an £80 job.

easy really and not a bad idea

I agree Neil.

Also, both in carpet cleaning and office cleaning and I am sure else where. When bidding for a contract we ask them "What is their budget".

If we can do the work within the clients budget we will. Or its simply lose it or winit.

As somethimes you could be the best at what you do and have the best equipment does not mean you have won the job

I've been tempted to try this one on more than one occasion over the years, but then work started to pick up once more, so I  never felt the need. Good idea though if you've got a persuasive telephone manner and can turn the situation to your advantage. Mike

£10 to clean a carpet!!! the robber ;D

He's in Sheffield searches aswell noticed it a couple of weeks ago infact he's doing leaflets around our shop in Dronfield, he's clued up on his advertising but his business skills may send him out of business unless he learns how to upsell or increase the job ticket.

Unless he gets clued up with his prices he won't make it in leaner months takes alot of £10's to pay the telephone bill.

I guess you're right Jason, hopefully my post will be seen as helpful anyone can charge what they want it's just a matter of getting on the ladder, but hopefully he'll heed my warning.

I considered this approach briefly and have even asked a few price shoppers, where my quotes have been too high for them, how much they'd be willing to pay.... I normally can't reply for laughing at their answer..... :D

I would really like to hear how and if it works from whoever runs it, it's an interesting concept....

It's not as crazy as it may first appears.  I would often quote prices and the customer would say 'oh I cannot afford that price' or it's not worth spending that much money on it, and I always say something like, well what price had you in mind and we always end up agreeing on a price. Maybe you have to drop your price by ten or twenty euros but you are either gaining a new customer or retaining an old customer.
However, there is nothing to beat the customer who books you and when you have finished the job asks ' how much do I owe you now'.

Paul where abouts have you moved to? because he looks close to Loundsley Green. Yes it's an interesting concept and gets the brain thinking of how to connect it to your own business. Years ago I came up with a concept of a price list a bit more indepth than a package sale.

It went something like

Standard room

Pre vac £
Pre condition£
Pre scrub £
HWE £
Spot removal£
Turbo dry £
Scotchguard£
Sanitizer £

Can't remember the prices but to get everything it did mount up but alot of people I think would only go for the HWE unless you push so I scrapped the idea.

And how annoying is it when they say is that all :)

Guys

we make our own bed.

On all the forums we all brag about how much money we get. The real truth is that from time to time we do get those nice jobs with big ticket prices.

The problem is that any person that's unskilled see the chance that they can earn that type of money with all the knowledge on tap on the forums will want to have a go.

The next problem is that in the real world as i said we don't get those nice jobs every day.

I have been in cleaning all my life one way or another. I have city and guilds in cleaning science how do you think i feel when someone sets up in my area and can earn the same as me with no real experience?

The bottom line is that we are just cleaners.

just remember next time you tell someone how much you get to add how hard it can be at times. that might help slow down the flood.

Ian I think you could be right with cleaing seen as being of little skill , there are things that can go wrong but if you have treatment risk insurance it's covered. The real hard thing in our industry is constantly getting the work which as we know can come in fits and starts thats why good planning and safe costings come into there own, £10 or £20 a carpet is a day to day survival.

Shaun

and what the one thing that's not talked about that much on forums? marketing and its costs

BTW package selling gives customers the choice between you, you, and you. giving just one price limits your customer base.

This person did a multi    '000 job this week alone .  He runs at least 3 succesful businesses.

Several music albums a week are released by this method now , you download them and decide how much to pay, they often end up selling for more than the normal retail price.

In a book Money Making Advertising Promotion and Marketing Secrets for Carpet Cleaners by Larrt O'Connell its Secret Number 27.

PAY WHAT YOU THINK IT'S WORTH  Ask the Customer how much they are willing to pay.

this method is not for the faint of heart.. The customer pays whatever they feel its worth

Larry says most people are honest enough and will not have the guts to cheat you to your face.

Perharps Mike Halliday could come up with a get out clause

When I have tried it admitilly faint heartedly Customer has been dumb struck and I still had to come up with a price.

Larry says those at lower end of  price spectrum could gain
