I knocked a customer’s gnome off its stand a few months ago, it was only a small ceramic thing worth about a fiver, but his wife said he will be gutted as his grandkids got it for him.
So I took it home, got out the glue and paints and repaired it. I had to mix up epoxy resin to fill in the bits that were missing.
All in all I spent about 2 hours mending it.
I took it back and his wife replaced it, to this day he still does not know.
His wife has threatened to tell him about it if I put my price up ha ha, I don’t mind though as his is a great guy and give me a freshly smoked trout every month in season.
