Ive had the same issues with EZ Snap, but I have just ordered the new range Pro 26, cant wait, I just want the easy to fit, none leaking couplings, and my day will go well!

I just changed all my connectors about a month ago from Hozelock to ez snap and having the same problems as everyone else.
The annoying thing about it is, i spoke to a girl at Gardiners before i placed my order and she told me that were a lot more hard wearing than hozelock adaptors. The were fantatic for the first 3 weeks but now its touch and go wheather they click together. Sometimes when i disconnect the male from the female water still flows out of the female ie the shut off valve fails.  I have tried to keep them clean since I got them as I would imagine grit wouldnt do them any good so its not as if I have been careless with them!

Wher can I buy rectus?

They are rectus, E-Z snap is Gardiners brand name for rectus 21.

I went from using leaky hozelock to rectus and because of the problems as mentioned, just gone back to hozelock. I think the secret is to replace them before they start leaking.

Same thing happens to me. So what I do now is to connect before switching power on. I thought it was too much pressure coming through why they wouldn't connect.

Rectus is just a brand name and subsidiary of Parker Pneumatics.
rectus21 are a DN5 type 210 coupling, the pro 26 couplings that are on Gardiner are just DN7.2 type 260 couplings. if they are not stamped rectus they will more than likely be Mader, but it makes no difference as I have come across quite a few Madder couplings stamped rectus. not surprising as they are both German companies.the ez snap is a type 210 by the way
DN 7.8 type 250 couplings will fit the type 260
the type 21 couplings would not really be up to the frequent connect / disconnect of everyday use due mainly to there physical size but who is going to tell you this when you are giving them £7.00 a pop!
the 260 are a little bigger but you will find after some time of constant use they will leak.
one of the reasons is they only fit NBR o rings and they don't like any form of abuse. letting them dry out or getting grit on them soon wares them out. water is not to be seen as a lubricant and pure water as we know removes grease.
you could change the o ring for a vi-ton type these are more hardier and you should expect longer life. the main o rings in type 260 and 250 are usually 10mm bore x 3 mm wall, i know the nipples have a 12mm body this is to ensure a good seal.
please don't tell me you can not change the rings in these.
and yes i go through a few couplings in me other side of work, i have just ordered 50 type 260 safety couplings.
just in case you are going to ask, with safety couplings you pull the body back to disconnect flow yet the nipple is retained in the body, you push forward to release the nipple altogether.

As has been said we sell the type 021 coupling range under the EZ-Snap™ name. These type of couplings are the most common type of couplings in use in the world and are produced by many companies around the world (Rectus is now part of the Tom Parker Conglomerate).

When the first posts above were posted (May 2010) we were being supplied by Tom Parker directly until they started sending through a cheaper make instead of the Rectus brand they used to supply us with. This cheaper un-named brand really did not perform as well and we ended up returning thousands of couplings to them as substandard goods.

We now have the EZ-Snap manufactured by a different company and have found them to be a far better version of the type 021 coupling. As has been mentioned, with all couplings they do perform best when treated with care and particularly not in allowing them to get dirt and grit inside. When we introduced these couplings to the WFP market it was because they were easy to use and did not jam together under pressure or when worn (as Hozelock type connectors can do). We also recommend the use of a couplings protection device (such as a Protecta-Ball or similar) on the male end and also we use them on the female end. This prevents a lot of wear on the couplings and also helps prevent dirt entering the couplings.

We have found that used in the way we recommend these type of couplings tend to last between 4-8 months for a female coupling and between 8-18 months for a male plug. Life expectancy is usually down to how they are looked after more than anything else (occasionally it can be down to a faulty coupling).

AH! first time I have seen Alex on here or at least noticed (sorry) and must say he has my thumbs up.
how pollite and honest. 4-8 month for a coupling sound right to me.
sorry should mention I dont just do windows, I actualy have the small round as a way of getting away from the norm and still do something. I have some contracts maintaining air systems or should I be posh and say pneumatics.
