alarm bells ring when I come across them ( which is not often lol)
I have to say I"ve always found it rather strange that since they don't own the property they don't really care about the state of their windows!!
even here in london in expensive neighbourhood they often don't care!

lol when I said in a recent post that I was loosing around 10 % of my custys a year ( including: new custys, those moving out and those changing their minds) I was told that was an awful lot as their average was 2 or 3% a year

and i stand by my comment ;) haha. established work i loose hardly any, a customer once in a blue moon because of movimg house/dying. i can honestly say iv had one cancel in the last 3 years from bad cleaning, dog poop everywhere and i splashed n dashed and was glad to get rid. i canvassed £600 last september and i lost one this november cus she couldnt afford it lol
£600 in one month. Do some for me mate :)

paul dale is ur man for that. il do some for u if u wanna pay me and ur very near me, lol. door knocking is a laugh i like it, two of us can pick up 150 in a day easily

we loose about 30% over first 3 cleans..

but your drop off rate depends on many things. we have pretty strict T&Cs regarding deferring cleans, payment, frequency etc etc..

you could call it us selecting the right customers because those we are left with are quality clients.

well , of course it's quite different if you're well established and have a good and solid round!! I've been in this game for 18 months only .I loose very few custys  ( the one's I've had for over 1 year!).

OK I get it.  That 18 month bit explains a lot.  My round was a lot more volatile in the first few years too.  It can be like that for a while.  I still have a very few customers who are still with me from when I started in 91/92 - but most are long gone.

I get very few drop outs now. I have a pretty rigid selection policy and make it crystal clear that I don't do one off cleans. I am loosening it a little though now I have a full time employee and just want to make sure we don't run out of work. I still won't tolerate messers. Time will tell.

I thin a lot of customer see there window are very dirty and after one clean they seam to stay clean forgetting you are doing a monthly maintenance clean  then think its chucking good money for nothing. Cancel until the glass gets to a minging state and the cycle starts over. Lets face it the average customer is a bit thick. The thing I find if they want to stop having there windows cleaned they just stop paying this adds insult to injury.

Not really. Much rather hammer leaflets out. Its working so far, as I share with a takeaway. I will give it a go in summer. I get enough hassle from other windys as it is. My problem is, if a person tell me to F off at the door, I will get sent down. Not much hassle with flyers

it makes a huge difference how you get your customers too..

customers who find you online are different to customers from leaflet drops, different from canvassed customers... and different from canvassed customers from yourself or by a bought in canvasser...

we used a canvasser who's drop off rate has been over 90%  obviously didn't choose to use him again... but all these things make it difficult t compare across businesses..

yeah true, someone who has made the effort to come and find you is less likely to mess about, but your probably not going to get ten people all on the same road visit your website and ring you in the same time period
