I havent collected for years, just leave a self addressed envelope and any money owed by the time next clean is due (which is very rare) doesnt get cleaned plus i,d never be cleaning windows for £8 anyway i,m running a business not a charity.
stupid comment! how much do you charge then for 4 little windows?

Cracks me up, cos the ones that are knocking me for it, had they of been in the same situation, would be £8 short, and have a bloke walking round the town thinking hes got the better of you.

No brainer really.  ;)

Ok, try to see it from another perspective rather than just being aggressive about it.

It's nothing to do with it "only being £8" in the way that £8 is not a lot of money.  For me, it's that rather than spending time on "endless phone calls, door banging etc..." and then time going round to collect, perhaps another approach would be to forget the £8 and use the time cleaning someone's windows who might turn out to be a good long-term customer.  I wouldn't be "£8 short", I'd be "up one new customer."

My view is that my business is cleaning windows.  I chase debts until the time spent collecting looks like becoming more than it's worth.  I don't care what a non-customer thinks of me.  If it costs more (in time, postage, driving, etc)  to collect a debt than the value of that debt, I'd be mad to chase.

And now call me a gay, southern jessie who knows nothing about window cleaning and has only just started and has a smart van if it'll help you to deal with my disagreeing with you...

Vin
Stupid post, so every minute you're not cleaning windows has to be accounted for yet you'd rather pound the streets replacing with another job, you must be owed a lot of money as this would be an endless cycle.

Cleanclear - Please explain how you would of got the money, what would you have done that I hadnt already tried? (you will have to find my other thread, where ive listed what I done)

You will notice that thread is titled 'THAT £8', as it was aimed at the people who commented on my last thread, advising me to forget about the money, and that I will never get it.

I'd of just done similar to you without threatening to come through the front door. Glad to see your in i'll call and collect it now thanks, i'll be round in a minute. You'll get yourself in trouble threatening people.

Some who haven't paid me for whatever reason are still good custy's

??? Sorry, thats a bad customer isn't it?

No
Some I have cleaned for years and for example they feel the back didn't get cleaned
because of no footprints in snow ??? [this was two days later]
Gate latch broken because of careless window cleaner [or the wind]
They definitely paid [ no they didn't ]
Gate not shut properly dog escaped not paying [no latch kept shut by plant pot] ::)roll
These are just some examples of custy's who didn't pay and I still clean
and to be fair are good custy's.
Sometimes they have bad days then along comes the windy man ;D
and I'm pretty sure with time to think most know they were wrong so
try to make up with a tip or fascia clean, gutter clean ect
Don't get me wrong if they tried it on again they would be dropped.

I think you we're right o chase the £8 James. I have and would do again if needed. Although I don't agree with threatening a client. Maybe next time just put the dirt back over the windows  ;)

So the extra £2, from £8 to £10 turns you into a business and not a charity then does it. What a stupid thing to come out with.

READ MY EARLIER POSTS AND YOU WILL SEE HOW I TRIED ALL THESE OPTIONS. I SENT LETTERS, I WENT ROUND KNOCKING, I SENT TEXTS, I TRIED TO MAKE PHONE CALLS, I GOT HUNG UP ON, I RECEIVED MESSAGES PROMISING PAYMENT, I DID NOT RECIEVE PAYMENT.
