Well, after a month, endless phone calls, door banging etc... they answered the phone this morning.

A simple 'I suggest you pay me this money else ill knock your door through myself and get it' they told me to come round and collect as I sounded angry  ;D

Tip of £2 aswell  :D

Was not giving in, on this one  ;D

I can see thats a fake one mate  ;D ;D hence the £2 tips  ;D

My services are available for small fee. If they refuse to pay tell them you'll get Gerald to sit on them. I've never lost yet with that threat.  >:(

Had a customer turn me over over £900 a couple of years ago. What would you have done if that was the case?
what did you do about it?

They'd gone bust. Nothing I could do. The receiver is dealing with it. Im thinking £10 would be a result with that.

I was fortunate in that it was a very big builders clean and the company that came in and took over the works offered me the job to complete it. I got a very attractive price for that work, which at the very least covered my losses with the previous contractor and made up for a fair proportion of what I was happy enough with. Just a crying shame I didnt get the on-going works. Would have liked that.

+1

too true ......... scum will go to all lengths to avoid paying.

used to have a round which was collection only in a cheap part of town ... during winter house lights are on from 4ish so at 6pm was easy to see who was in and who was out ... loads used to pretend to be out but usually slipped up when they thought I had gone and would take a look from behind curtain and I would be waiting patiently on the door step for em .. dropped round ages ago as fed up with people like that.

I think the guy was right to pursue this but only cos it was next to a regular customer, if he had to drive miles to nag the bloke then I'd say leave it, but I would keep on knocking in his case too.
All those people who knocked the guy for pursuing it, would you mention it if someone in a shop shortchanged you a pound, course you would.
A manager is generally someone who has been promoted to the position by someone else who didn't see them as a threat.
Hence all people are promoted to the level of their incompetence

Cracks me up, cos the ones that are knocking me for it, had they of been in the same situation, would be £8 short, and have a bloke walking round the town thinking hes got the better of you.

No brainer really.  ;)

Good on you James.

I've just received a £40 payment from a customer that has owed it since October last year. Despite numerous texts/calls promising she would pay, she never did.

Anyway, sent her a "Letter Before Action" letter from Thomas Higgins and hey presto, 5 days later, she pays.

It used to bother me that she thought she could get away with it, so I went the Thomas Higgins route  ;D

Only ever had it done to me twice before, one of them moved out of the area, so I wrote that off (£15). The other one lost his job and was skint, but I saw him in the pub one night and he paid up (£18)  ;D

£8 or £80 it would still wind me up
You can't polish a turd

I'm not sure why some people are getting their knickers in a twist about this. He did the job he wants his money.

Try walking out of Tesco with something worth £8 without paying, their security will wrestle you to the floor and contact the police.

I'll tell you why people are getting their knickers in a twist...

BECAUSE THEY ARE TRYING TO SEND OUT A MESSAGE TO EVERYONE ON HERE THAT THEIR ROLLING IN IT, AND £8 TO THEM IS A DROP IN THE OCEAN COMPARED TO THEIR BANK ACCOUNT.

I could draw a hundred quid out the bank now if I wanted to and chuck it down a drain and not be bothered...

I don't go round telling people tho.

£8 is £8. Ive earned that £8 and I want it... end of!

I'm glad you got your money but have to disagree with your statement above.

I wouldn't have threatened to kick the door in as it disturbs your own 'inner peace' and rarely promotes good feeling.

Calmness of heart = a long life and happiness.

Having had a re-read of the OP I agree I would not have threatened to kick the door in either. There are better, more equally efficient ways to get your money.
