lets Get this Crash test discusion ended

If any one has had a crash in a untested system tell us on here
speed what the hit etc

I was told that Pure Freedom has had two WFP systems in crashes and lived to tell the tail
one hit a skip head on at 30mph
and another this year was hit and the van did a 360 in the middle if the road

if any other wfp people on here has had any systems in crashes tell us
and it hope fully tell us all on here even untested systems are safe

I've said enough times, if you hit something hard enough front -on to force a tank through a steel bulkhead you'd be squashed at the front anyway.
No point worrying about it. ;)

Ionics why because its still the only system that is crash tested by thatcham.

Quite right Bluemonkey...wasting your money...
Mine's up against the bulkhead and about two feet below me.

If it could go through it'd be under my feet anyway!
Unless physics has gone wrong and it jumps two feet in the air, then decides to press forwards through steel. ;D
Can you imagine what the front end would look like then? Mush. ;D

an other thing i dont get is how a 1000 ltr ibc tank makes a van tip if being driven normally,    fair enough if you are doing hand break turns   but under normal driving it should tip

I have been involved in Motor sport for 26 years as a incident marshal and now incident Officer. Our fire tenders have over 1000 lts of foam all have been tested the same way. The Fire Jaguar which gets up to speeds well over 130mph has 500 lts on Board, has been tested the same way. I was talking to some of the engineers at Silverstone and told them of Ionics systems and the way the bulk water is fitted and to them its a no brainer. Still if you hit something fast enough your brown bread anyway. But to have a cheap system fitted and have a slight bump with a tonne of water in your van and it comes forward and seriously injures your or god forbid kills you, just to save money. Ask ionics to show you pictures of vans that have been in accidents with their systems fitted.

I agree Ionic’s Crash Test is the real deal; sledge testing is usually done to test components where vehicle deformation doesn’t affect the components. Attaching a large and heavy tank of water to the vehicle chassis does need a full crash test and not only a simulated sledge test.

Squeaky

A steel bulkhead will offer minimal protection in a crash with any sort of speed involved becuase of the sheer force generated by several hundred litres of water.

You may be OK if your tank is near empty, but it is a no-brainer to trust your bulkhead to protect from the kind of potential forces invovled.
