-

Andrew Lee from Grimsby??
-
Missed it.
What was that all about?
-
listen to the archived show later on on the website, still probably gonna be some more on it yet
-
about WFP systems being banned!!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/
click listen top right corner.
I think this is going to cause many arguments, the person speaking about the ban to the window cleaner clearly does not have a clue about our trade or about window cleaning in any form, the comment about we will understand ??? ??? ???
-
the host needs shooting!!
-
Andrew is from the Fed, He was the guy who was on newsnight last year talking impacted soilage
-
that woman is an idiot, My windows need to be cleaned cause its my business and i'll be outta pocket.
what about us?
Muppet >:(
-
have just texted them, 1000 gallons a day ???????????
-
whats Jeremys email address
-
whats Jeremys email address
vine@bbc.co.uk
-
Andrew lee from cumbria (wfp) and 2 other w/c both named Paul from Devon, one a wfp and one a ladder user.
First Paul...... I use 300 ltrs per day
Second Paul..... I use 2 buckets a day.
Second Paul with viney? The first paul was saying he uses 1000 gallons a day ::) this wasn't what I heared, I heared the first paul say, he uses 300ltrs a day and there are some guy's out there who use 1000ltrs a day.
Theres a big difference between ltrs and gallons guy's.
It also sounded to me, that the water company's don't want to know or care about us w/c, along with jeremy vine and the water company's, they were saying we go along and connect to a hose pipe? ::)
I just wish these people would get there facts right, No compensation unlike the British farmer, the water company say we have to make our own minds up, go back to the ladder or go on the dole.
-
that is not what the water companies are saying I have just emailed them and see what they say, I think every one should email the show and get them to say sry and state that it is litres and not gallons.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/vine/contact.shtml#form
email them ;)
hopefully they will clear that up, I guess they will not though >:(
this is what I emailed them:
Dear Jeremy,
I was listening to your show about window cleaners that use water fed poles, you misheard the person that said he was using 300 litres a day for a full days work and you then said gallons this is untrue and unfair, please if possible could you clear that up on the show, and the comments that some make about water fed window cleaning leaving streaks etc is down to the person using the pole I myself use both Water fed pole and traditional methods and all of my customers are happy with water fed pole as the water drys spotless, it is down to people that do not know how to use the pole that leave a mess on windows. Professional window cleaners do not leave streaks.
-
what a joker that Jeremy is! he had an underlining down in his voice that was very negative towards us.
at one point he said, you can either use 1000 litres of water or go up a ladder with a bit more risk, what would you do?
der...i like my legs where they are thats why i use a WFP system.
that really narked me!!
-
You use more water washing your car than your windows !!!!!!!
-
i think he needs to say about other industries using masses amount of water, what will they do? doubt if they will get banned!!!
-
EMAIL HIM, if everyone does it maybe he will say it on air.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/vine/contact.shtml#form

-
I'm gutted i can't hear anymore, let us know if anything else gets said?
i cant get on it on pc, just got it on the radio
-
Nothing else I could hear was mentioned, the rest of the show was about football hooligans? Maybe the next show will be about w/c hooligans ;D
-
The Fed & AWPC now need to club together and push the HSE on this matter. Also a top lawyer needs to be found to fight for it's members, it will be at a point where words will make no difference but needs to be fought out in court with compensation in mind.
It needs to happen now not when the ban starts, if this rule applies to window cleaners then ban it in industry as well. Window cleaning is an industry so if they do not ban it in Industry they cannot ban it for window cleaning. These are the points a top lawyer needs to look at.
For example ban it in Industry then beer shortage, I'm sure there then would be an outcry.

Good link, see what you can gain out of it.

In all honesty I don't think it will ever come to a ban on WFP.
It's just scare mongering by the press - especially the BBC for some reason?

Hold ur 'orses !!
This was a feature on the Jeremy Vyne Show, not a govt. regulation or blue-paper submitted to parliament.
Jeremy Vyne is notorious for featuring controversy on his show with biased reporting and controversial viewpoints, its tabloid journalism.
Highly unlikely to have any cause to keep any of us awake at night, unless, of course you want it to.

I live opposite a golf course and during last years hosepipe ban they were watering the greens almost daily. I asked Thames Water about this and they said that water could be used as long as it was needed for business purposes but would reconsider in the event of a drought order.
The danger arises that in the event of a drought order regardless as to whether or not wfp is banned that customers will view having their windows wfp'ed as anti-social.
-
So we go back to trad for that time.
I am sure health and safty will not be impressed

That's very true, and a point I've made in the past.
Even if it's ok'd, people will not be impressed when you're using water like it's going out of fashion, and they can't even wash the car. :-\
Half my customers don't like it now!
Don't give them an excuse! :o
-
Cant get to hear it either. Maybe the tw*t has bitten off more than he can chew..........

Half my customers don't like it now!
Don't give them an excuse! Shocked
Earlier this year a few of my customers questioned me using WFP because of the hosepipe ban... I just told them that as a business I could use the water that I was using, and they seemed fine with that!

Would i be right in saying the whole BBC Website is unavailable??? Havin no joy whatsoever.

your all getting wound up for nothing. remember last years hot summer. same kind of thing ban this ban that. millions have been spent since the introduction of wfp
not to mention the amount of people employed witch obviously runs into thousands.
its not just the cleaning side what about the suppliers, manufacturers what do they think these people there going to do shut up shop. and everyone's gonna chuck there time money and hard work down the toilet ::)
-
Connection timeouts.....BBC waste of space.
-
Yep they are pingu..........the sad thing is............we're compelled to employ the useless, lightweight, no backbone pc bunch of namby pamby wooly gutless ponces. Oops is that to strong an opinion?lol It's ok.......we pay there wages...so i guess i'm entitled to my say ;)
None the less.............like just mentioned............all media hype........The beeb thrives on it. It's all they have left. Shame cos it used to be the envy of world radio. Now it's got nothin better to do that stir up the sh*t.

do you know this for a fact? or is this just your opinion on it? I myself like to know the facts so if it did ever happen I would have meassures in place to deal with it I have a duty to my staff and my family to do this
-
oh by the way if anyone from the bbc or water board happens to reading any of this
try shutting down some illegal bosnian car wash's that might save you a few billion
litres a year. AND LEAVE US OUT.
-
Still the beeb site is unavailable............... Never ever known it to be down. Strange..........very strange.
Maybe the government has put in place emergency measures to stop all crap journalism entering the public domain :)
-
Funny thing is you never hear of a dishwasher ban, a ban on topping your garden pond, a ban on filling your luxury swimming pool or a ban on watering flowers (hardly important). How about a ban on irrigating football/cricket pitches. Same for Wimbledon. Shutting water parks. I think we will be in trouble though when the discussion starts on how inefficient an ro system is unless your filtering rainwater. :(
-
Mum's the word Dave ;)
-
Beeb is online again now.

Hi Guys, it was yours truly on with Jeremy Vine today on radio 2, Paul from Devon, and yes I did say I use around 300 LITRES a day and there are guys in our industry who do use 1000Litres a day, thats only one IBC! So thank you to you guys on here in previous topic who defended me, Jeremy Vine did get it wrong and say 300 - 1000 GALLONS!
Any way I listen constantly to Radio 2 and when this subject came up felt impulsed and bl**dy angry so had to phone in!
Check out Jeremy Vines web page for a 'Listen Again' facility so you can hear the whole topic being debated.
Follow this link http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/vine/
I'm not sure they have added it yet but when they do it'll only be there for one week.
Come on guys listen in and E-Mail the show with your comments.
We have to defend our industry from this latest hurdle that this crappy government is putting in front of us!
Hope you enjoy the show, I certainly enjoyed ranting and raving in front of 7 Million people! Ha ha.
Goochie. ( real Name Paul)
Exeter.

I had no problem emailing him but I wasn't particularly productive with my comments :)
Actually I wrote
"I think radio hosts should be banned from airing their views on the radio as it causes too much noise pollution.
How you going to pay your mortgage now Jeremy?
Homeless? Bankrupt?
How's it feel buddy?"
I know I'm a bit of a twit writing that but he's supposed to be in a responsible position in the media and deserves a bit of mild flak for misrepresenting the situation IMO.

Yes Rog. One of my customers asked last Summer how come I was allowqed to wash her windows while she wasn't allowed to water her garden with a hose. She was OK about it really but was making the point that it seemed unfair. I just said that her not being able to water her garden by hose would not affect her ability to pay her mortgage.

remember its a phone in show, so they take the stance that is likely to produce more calls.

See there is comments posted on the other posts but nothing on the window cleaning post yet. ???

Exactly.
They don't care what you say or even if the whole topic is truthful it is to get attention and calls. ;)
