Title: Gardiner prices ?
Post by: South Window Cleaning Ltd on March 19, 2014, 06:44:12 pm
When you buy a new pole they give you the option of a choice of 4 free brushes,
the standard price for the free brushed is £25.50
but Why do Gardiners feel the need to charge an extra £20.95 if you want a different brush when the original price is the other brush is £27.95

Surely they should only charge the difference IE: £2.45 ?

please explain Alex ?

I thought similar myself.
Standard ones aren't so specialised.

Think! if you need a sill brush you have to buy it.

Not good business sense allowing discount on the better brushes

We use the The Super-Lite® Brush Dual-Trim - Stiff Bristles

so why do we have to pay so much extra each time, when the difference is only £2.45

I've wondered the same actually. Must be a reason for it though......

I'm sure Alex will explain.

This is a business decision to promote 4 brushes over the other types and have the majority of sales in just these 4.

The free brushes are part of a promotion for those buying poles - we choose to offer one of four brushes free with a pole (for the time being).

The brushes we include as part of this offer are the best selling brushes. Because we buy these ones in by the thousands the pricing on them is much better than the pricing on the others that we buy in by the hundreds. It is in our stock control interests to have just these four brushes selected more often.

The pricing of the others is to reflect that they are not part of the promotion.

We do have a new website under construction (nearly complete) which has a different pricing model for brushes and then for brushes when ordered with a pole and will close the gap between the two types of brushes, but this will be a month or so away.

Has anyone checked out the price for replacement new style clamps :o SLX22 over £50+vat. Also I'm still waiting on my free beanie from the pole I bought, if you advertise free beanie I'd expect a free beanie.

When did you buy the new pole? Have you raised this with us previously?

As far as I know we do not advertise a free gift with any of our products currently. We do send out free gifts with most orders though at our discretion. Also with full carbon poles we often send out either a cap or beanie depending on the season but this is not currently mentioned anywhere on the website and does not include CLX poles.

if you are not happy about the price, buy somewhere else! you can't have a very good quality clamp at a cheap price!

If it was a "very good quality clamp" I wouldn't be seeking a replacement!

I think that because Alex is so helpful people tend to take this for granted, prices for new clamps are to expensive but yet he has probably had to put a lot of money and time redesigning them so has to make that money back, similar to how we as window cleaners are judged on what we can earn in a day yet our customers don't see that when we finish cleaning windows we still have to fill up our tanks, invoicing, sort for next day etc. I've still got the very first slx that came out and I've recently done the clamps upgrade and it probably now has a good few more years in it, a lot of company's would of made that pole and left it as it is without trying to improve things, then sat at home and earnt money from it, but I believe gardiners are beyond any other wfp suppliers as they take pride in there company, deal with any problems big or small, I know if I was in Alex position the last thing I'd be doing is logging in to a forum and trying to sort people's problems.

Alex,

If it's not already done (and if it's not too late if not), is it possible to have a part number or code associated with everything you sell?  It'd make it a great deal easier when looking for a specific item that I've bought before.

Let him up it to £50 its a brilliant pole I spent £250 3 years ago and l recently spent £30 on clamps
So £280 in 3 years that's less then £100 a year what is your average spend per customer per year £140 £150? More? £300?? we all want regular work so if Alex wants regular money every 3 years and ups his prices to make it worth while to stay trading then by god let him honestly if he wanted to charge £100 for clamps I'd pay it best purchase ever
How can you put a price on your health my arms used to be fooked went with Gardiner and they are pretty much healed

Let him up his prices to make it worth while keep the products coming we support all price rises!!

The current website and order software that we use does have a unique product code assigned to each item. However the downside is that this is never displayed on the website, the product or the invoice it is only something that we see whilst using the software and is on the packing list (LH column) that you will receive. You also cannot then use this code to search for the item on the website. You could ring up and quote the product code and the sales team will be able to locate the item on our sales software though if needed.

On the new website system each product also has a product code assigned to it. This is not displayed on the product page, but it is displayed once the product is added to your cart. You can also input a product code from a previous order and the website will search for the item matching the code. The code is also displayed on your order paperwork and online.

The new website will also have an account facility where you create an account and then you can log in anytime you want to check the state of progress of your orders and also all of your last 2 years worth of order history is available for you to see exactly what has previously been bought.

Why? How many posts do you have to do before you can have a moan?
And it's the way you defend Gardiners, at times. You are overly defensive.
They are running a business and don't need you to fight their battles. Their products and service will be the base of their success not individuals' comments.
And they'll sell their products and service to make money not to make peoples' lives easier. Gardiners are very good at what they do but it's a two way thing.
So stop the sycophancy, Alex won't stop trading because of some negative comments.

Hi Gary

It would seem that you have been 'short-changed' on the free gift front - I know it's free and I know it's a gift, but still.....

Drop me an email and I can sort something out for you  :)
