Delivery company just left it sitting outside the back of my house, instead of sticking it in my shed like i asked them !
But at least it's here, going to have a crack at my lounge floor over the weekend,as it's hand made brick, and pretty grim..

What did they charge for that? I have a load of them , bought for £150 a few years ago, that is £150 for the lot , about 18 I think.
-
£346 inc vat and del,and the brush and skirt,it's a recon one
-
It's a re-badged Victor Europa isn't it?
-
Yeah
-
Jims right its a victor.
Get that oven cleaned mark ;D
-
I know it's a Victor,it's what I asked for,and yeah,been a while since I last did it,not got any blades though for the scraper
-
Also learnt this eve, don't try and use the brush on carpet, ended up on the other side of the kitchen
-
Ye they can throw you across the room mate ..

Exactly my problem!! I have a jeyes rangers weighs 50kg and i bought a poly brush for it. I have tried using it on my carpets but the bloody thing throws me about :( is there some kinda technique i should be adopting??
I think the poly brush is not the right one, the bristles seem very stiff, infact the label says "stiff poly scrub brush" :-\ I take it this is not ment for carpet agaitation?

It would probably be fine for low profile carpet but for anything other than it will try and 'grab' the carpet, this in turn means YOU will be doing the turning ;D Been there done it when I forgot I hadn't put a pad down and nearly broke my wrist in the process, as the base plate held onto the carpet.
You'll need something softer for 'normal' carpets.

how stiff is it ? is it like a wire brush? if not you need to use it with more fluid and less resistance in your arms you have to relax with it if you hold it taught it will pull you about

Its this one here Mark http://www.wcsuk.com/acatalog/info_BP793.html
Its not as stiff as a wire brush but pretty resistant all the same. I'll try again using that method on sunday on a couple of EOT's i've got booked in.
It didn't say stiff in the website discription. >:(
-
thats a very hard brush might be ok on low profile
the one I have has red round the edge and the rest is white
the trick is plenty of fluid and a large space to start with until you get used to it
-
just had a quick look on woodbridge site the one you need is the one below the one you brought good news is its half the price
-
All poly brushes should be run on a wet concrete surface for at least 30 minutes to soften the ends of the bristles prior to using it on carpet.
-
Took the words out of my mouth John!
Tony it could be you have a harder one than most folks :D But my poly scrub brush, after being run-in enough, is fine even on domestic wool carpets
As suggested the "shampoo" brush looks like it is more similar to the one I have, maybe that's the problem?
p.s. if you lower the handle height it helps combat the problem of the machine trying to throw you around
-
as jim says, lower the handle, if it is throwing you around the handle is too high,
colin
-
plenty of lubrication as well mark to stop it binding on the carpet mate :)
Maybe have a go in your home first one a carpet of ypur own.
-
Thanks guys! I'll try the conctrete tip tomorrow when i get back from work. I'll also to change my posture etc I have a resturant on Tuesday night but think it'll be a tad too early to try it out on that just yet!
Cheers
Tony
-
Have you ran the brush in Tony?
20 mins on tarmac or concrete should help bed it in.
Nylon brush is usually better for carpet.
-
I'll also to change my posture etc
The way I was taught was...stand upright and have the handle adjusted so it is the same height as your 2 meat and veg.
Anything lower is bad back time, anything higher is hang on for your life. Both of these alternative positions have their usages but wait until you've mastered the proper position first. By mastered that means you can use it single handed and further on from that is just finger tip control.
Final tip: If you get to use pads wait until you've done several 'normal' carpets before tackling flotex ;D
-
Thanks Neil :), i think i tried every possible postion possible! but only stayed in each postion for a few moments while getting dragged around the room...
But i'll try the groin region next. cheers. One handed!!? ha I think i'll be glad if i can keep both feet on the ground first! ha ha
CleaningSystemsUK, Not yet but will do tomorrow. I'll do it on the paving slabs in my garden with some water.
-
your 2 meat and veg.
What kind of science experiment does your tackle look like?!! :D

Are you on the right forum?!!!!!!!!
-
I trust when you trying your machine you do have a damp carpet and a damp pad?
Just try rotary first on a hard floor with a pad. Make sure floor and pad are wet, and just get the knack of controlling the machine rather then it controlling you.
Do you understand how you move the machine about? - tilt forward to go right, tilt back to go left
-
Joe, Tony was referring to using the brush attachment ;)
-
I am ok with a rotary, have many years of experience using them on dirty kitchen floors during my 18 years as a chef.
I for one won't be using the stiff nylon brush on a carpet, neck still hurts where it nearly pulled my arm out it's socket.
Been spending some money before the next tax year, nice new lipped buckets from Restormate, some flea treatment stuff, and some velcro straps foc ;D
Order from Prochem turned up on Friday, not sure what the hell they are playing at,I ordered some new nylon elbows for the in and out on the pump,as I thought it's fine having a spare pump, but what if I break an elbow trying to pull the pipes off,as there are pretty hard to get off, they sent me the wrong size ones, with a note on the back saying please send back as they are wrong, why the feck couldn't they put the right ones in,before sending it out to me ?
So I now have to pay to send them back !!!
Also got charged £20 for a brass female connector !!! Biggest surprise was only £7 for a vac tank gasket !!
-

Not quiet senile yet Jim ;)
For "others" that were reading the thread and maybe put off rotary work, due to the antics of the machine, it is still good advice to practice on a hard floor.
-

Oh wouldn't you like to know ;D
Keeps the women happy, you know what I mean baby ;D
-
Joe, Dont have a drive board for pads or pads yet :( got he rotery mainly for the againation aspect to start with before going in to bonneting. I only have the stiff poly brush.
cheers
Tony
-
Well I have the drive board and no pads either, next kettle of fish question, which are best for bonneting ?
-
As for pads - I still use the ones I got with the Texatherm system I bought new about 6 years ago - just found an unopened box of 10 up in the loft (clearing out ready for house move hopefully next week)
Solutions do a scrub pad - well actually they do 2, a grey one for carpets and a black one for tiles. Think they are £35 each. I have both and they work well.
You will need a drive board though.
-
I have the grey one as well but it is rubbish at sticking to any drive board I have put it on, I have some dry fuson pads and they must be about 10 years old and they are brilliant probably like the tex pads.

Just found a carpet shampoo brush too. Also 17"
-
Mark i use texatherm pads as found the quality superb and do last a long time as long as they are looked after.
They also dont shred or loose bits of fluff on the way too ;D

If Tony isn't interested. I did offer him first. ;)
-
Hey Jamie
Many thanks for the kind offer! Will it fit a Jeyes Ranger?
Mines was advertised at 15" but looks like it would take a 17 inch no bother. When i fit my poly brush on to it theres atleast a 2 inche gap between the side of the brush and the edge of the buffer!
many thanks
Tony
-
poop sorry. I have got confused somewhere. I thought it was a Victor machine.
Apologies for wasting time / getting anyone's hopes up.
To confirm it's a 17" Drive a disc and Shampoo Brush for a Victor Sprite/Europa I have.
-
Ha ha ha. didn't realise the board correct bad language.
-
Try Bunzl in Bonnington Road Lane for Ranger parts. WCS may also have em.
-
jamie exactly what i am looking for as my rotary is a sprite what do you want for the drive board
