Window Cleaning Forum / Re: Running pump directly from van battery!!

Well I found the button that switched off the turn off the engine, I haven’t run it at night for a long time, but what I can remember the lights stay on with no switching off when engine stops. One of the company I will go back doing casual work after my eye has been operated on in October, has a Merc which he switched off his turn  engine stopping each time  the vehicle waits at traffic lights etc. He was the one who pointed out getting a switch like I pictured in previous post.Yes the engine can stop switching off when wait on traffic lights etc just by flicking switch when first starting engine.

Stop/start is a nightmare. If the van's headlights are on, does the engine switch off when stopped at traffic lights? Can you switch the stop/start off when starting your journey?

I would still do as I recommended a while back on this post. Buy one of those voltage meters that plug into your cigarette lighter and watch what happens when you drive it. In other words, you want to see what the van's alternator does while driving around.

Once euro 6 emission requirements became law in 2016, the landscape for split charge relays changed considerably. The thing is that some vehicles were Euro 6 compliant before 2016 as manufacturers tested out the new regulations before they came into force in September 2016.

If you do a google search someone has posted that a split charge relay will not work with a van with stop start fitted. You need a dc 2 dc charger. (b2b charger.)

https://www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.uk/threads/stop-start-engine-with-split-charge-relay.910399/

You also need to sort your leisure battery out. Adding another form of auxillary charging isn't going to solve your battery problem.

If you are still using that AGM battery, then there is every possibility that your van's charging system isn't compatable with that AGM battery. You will need to investigate that as well.

As I mentioned about this a while ago, is it possible to fit one of these systems that wire your second battery with a wiring diagrams of how to do it for a cost of about 50 quid parts? Including isolated switch and fuse box as advertised on EBay  Will try and post advert in next post .
