wfp AND trad...limited water....
« on: April 25, 2010, 12:39:15 pm »
as many of you know ive recently bought a new van.(renault kangoo 665)payload 665kg.

im thinking 300-350lt is max to carry in 25 lt containers as well as trad stuff and me!(im 18 stone).

im gonna rip the ply and carpet out the back, put down waterproof floor paint then several rubber mats!

ill be buying a 50 lt pure freedom trolley and wcw backpack/18ft brodex hydra alloy/31ft c/f pole.

i will clean all upstairs windows wfp(that i can reach wfp)and have all my trad stuff on my belt with a spray bottle with pure water/gg3 in(no bucket to carry!).

i will trad some downstairs windows to save water and appease some custys.also if i need to use the ladder to access a flat roof ill have gear on me to get the job done as quickly as poss.

the only other thing is i think i want an attachment on the poles with a scraper tool for gettin the bird muck off/paint instead of gettin my trad pole and scraping up close to save time scrubbing and rinsing and wasting water.also triggers on both poles.if im running low on water ill have a small di in van to attach to custys outside tap for that extra 25-50lts if needed.

does any of you work this way?

the trolley will be ideal for big chunks of my compact work where there sometimes is parking issues and ill be able to bring the trolley inside during cold frosty nights! ;)

no bulkhead in van.i was thinking of rachet strapping the containers in then gettin some sort of frame fitted to hold the containers in.

i do have a metal frame thingy behind the drivers seat though!

I had a crash at christmas, I was only going 15 mph because of the snow on the mountain road I was on, anyway the impact into the wall ripped my metal hosereel which was bolted to the water tank and set it all around the back of my van.

Luckly I had a bulkhead, if I hadn't I would be dead now.

Having 12 water containers that weigh 55 pounds that will be smacking you in the back of the head, if you only have to break to hard, let a lone have a crash.

If I was you I would change to a 300lt water baffled tank that is strapped down securley.

I also think that the police might say something if they ever were to stop you.

because blue monkey i cant wfp everything!i dont want to drag hose everywhere across roads etc and i hate the thought of bein tied to the van!

i can clear the van if i want to use the van for something else(eg taking rubbish to the tip!).i dont have to mess about with heaters in winter and worry about pumps freezing and breaking!

i will spend half hour every night(morning in winter) filling containers DI only with hose down the stairs to containers in van!

you will soon get fed up carting them 25 ltr containers about, i did , you say you dont want to be tied down to your van , but with the trolly you will be back and forth to the van all day , lifting containers in and out of van.

your best bet is a 300 ltr van tank , and a back pack ,
i have a shurflo, had it for around 5 years, and a 500ltr van mount, my pump filter and varistream are mounted on a piece of upvc fascia, which is screwed to ply lining on side of van . with quick fit connectors, the whole system can be taken out in less than 10 mins, for times when i want to use van for something else, in winter i can take out pump so it does not freeze.

but how do you fill the backpack from a van mount(submersible pump?)and you dont know the nature of my round.also if i get the 50lt trolley with tradding the odd downstairs windows and a trigger fitted to my pole.50lts should last me an hour.

there is plenty on here with trolleys that are happy with them!only time will tell though! ::) ::) ;) ;D ;D

it sounds to me you have thought it out well. and you will be fine. One tip i found on here was to use round water dispenser bottles that hold around 20L they are slightly lighter and you plonk it top of the trolley and it fills in seconds without the hassle of holding 25 litre containers.

as far as filling time you will be faster refilling than dragging hoses and reeling in although loads disagree. but i know its true my worker can grab the trolley and be working before i have the hose out to the front of a building.

dont want to p on your fire so to speak.
but quote"i dont think its illegal hydroclean as ill be under the weight limit"

if you have a accident you could be done for a DANGEROUS LOAD.all loads must be secured,in the eyes of the law.

I fill my backpack and all ten litre barrels every day by syphoning straight from the vanmount tank. One sharp sook on the hose and it flies out really fast. I can fill my backpack and all my 6 barrells in about 5 minutes.
