Re: Is it possible to get zero TDS with RO only?

Guys,

Is it possible to get to zero TDS with RO only, or will I have to add DI?

I'm going from 280 in to 11 out with a Gaps 4040; is that the best I'm likely to be able to expect?

Thanks,

V

It is possible to get it to zero sometimes but it does start creeping up eventually.  If your water pressure is decent then it may not be possible to better the 11 you already have.  Maybe a softener before the RO will help but, IMO, if you're going to do that you might as well add a DI after the RO.  Or maybe a DI in the van to polish on demand. (You don't say if you have a static RO or a van mounted one).

My TDS is about 80, when i put it though a merlin with a booster pump at about 70psi, it comes out at 2.

I still polish it with a resin bottle.

I have similar set up and results,

I recently added a prefilter to reduce costs.

Now at 000 from RO.
