Hi all I have recently started my own cleaning business after being involved for the last eight years in managment. However I have been presented a slight problem I have been asked if I can repolish a Skittle come dance floor in a local social club it has apparently been stripped and polished before using traditional methods. What should I use and what should I charge per square metre? By traditional I mean floor polish remover and a high gloss finish I know this is far from ideal but they want a cheap solution to the floor problem and can I do it manually rather than hiring a machine any advice will be greatly appreciated

hi mark, what size is the floor,  it depends what seal that has been on it, if its bourneseal then just strip back with emulsion stripper or similer, then rinse with viniger,  then wait to dry  then apply bourneseal  two coats would be ideal, depends on the wear.  then apply polish on it two coats. then buff it will look good.

£17-£23 per square metre You'll be lucky. £7-£10 is much closer to the mark, its not 2 days work either. They have already told you they want a cheap solution, at £23 p/m they could probably re-floor the entire area!!

Can Bourneseal really be stripped that easily, in my experience its more like a varnish and has to be sanded.

no i didnt mean strip the bourneseal, i meant the top polish, and ok its about 4days with drying time of such seal.

Thanks for your replys, The floor is quite large in excess of 500sq metres and has been subject to some abuse it has been previously sealed and I believe last time it was stripped and polished with traditional emulsion based products. I would like to achieve an exellent finish as it will be a bit of an advertisement for my new business. Any further advice would be very gratefully received

A newly polished floor does look fantastic. Strip it, dry it & re-polish with something like Carefree or click the green man above for some other products. I WOULDN'T buff the main hall area as it may make it more slippery. Just apply with a good quality clean mop. 1 days work maximum, worth about 400-500
