« on: April 15, 2010, 10:38:47 pm »
i knocked on a large house today.... she said she already had a window cleaner but asked for a quote.

So my price was £30 every 4 weeks....... And i thought that was cheap  ;D

So i asked how much her current windy charges.....

whys that , perhaps he cleans all the other local houses and makes a nice wage, you are just turning up for 1 house, get a compact round and keep the prices fair and you will always work

the house sits on its own in the middle of nowhere. So he is also turning up for the one house.

And i DO have some nice compact rounds   ;)

I do find it funny sometimes that if someone else works for a lot less than you are quoting then it is automatically assumed they are benefit cheats?
I have one cleaner in my area, well known with very compact areas, and he charges a lot lot less than i do,but i know because of how compact his round is and also the volume of business he has in the area, then he has a very profitable and legitimate business...dont tar everyone with the same brush. ;)

i agree with stan to a point!did you not say you clean frames sills, doors, and do em 2 monthly instead then she would be savin money and gettin a better job done!

if he s a likeable windy (even if he s pretty crap!) its very unlikely they would choose you over him!

you gotta offer them something more and better!even then its a case of better the devil you know a lot of the time.

i have a lot of very compact "bread and butter "work that is quite cheap but still make a nice wedge at the end of the day!stops the likes of you moving in on my work!makes good business sense and stops a lot of driving about!

dont assume hes not legit just cos he s cheaper than you!he may work  9am-5pm every day and be a real grafter and make the same money as you! ;D ;D

If you are cheap you are not a benefit cheat .You are just a fool. As simple as that. You are thieving from yourself and family. I have not seen any monuments build to cheap window cleaners. Your Price should be the maximum your customer will pay you not your minimum. We try for the top price and the customers try for lower and we meet someware in-between. Its not for you to decide what the customer can afford, I think that is a insult to your customer to presume what they can and will pay. We will all pays less for everything if we could get away with it. Wake up fellows, this is not charity. ITS A BUSI

45-60mins it would take, one man, thats with cleaning frames & sills aswell.

GOLD, its a house, with windows ;D
big georgean windows, would have to put the ladders into one corner, do the first two "columns" of glass, then move the ladder to the other corner, and do the other two "columns"

ten tops, and i think 8 bottoms.

so about 18 big windows., 4 "columns" and 6 "rows"

anybody wants to do 18 of these windows for £16, has a screw loose.
Even for the bottom windows, a 3m ladder would be needed.
