GRRRRRRRR Canvassing
« on: April 15, 2010, 07:55:28 pm »
Went out for 4.5 hours today only picked up £30 worth
Went on to a afflaunt (sp) area, most had windies, but what got to me is those who asked for a quote gave me such a dirty look, ie i quote £22 for a house with fairly large conny and the woman say oh my last windy charged £7, with conny mrs? yes was the reply grrrrrrrrr stupid beer brigade.
It got to me today tbh because i gave out quite a few quotes with hardly any luck.
Im not the cheapest and i aint the most expensive but these windies who are stuck in the mud really pizz me off

Matt, when i quote for a upvc clean i give a 10% discount if they allow me to put an advertising board (same as yours in foamex) up on the outside of their property for 1 month.Do you offer this?
I have gained several jobs from the boards, how about you?

I have only put my first one up yesterday. and yes I give a 10% discount as well.
I am hoping it will generate more work.

How much work does it normally generate for you?

If its just 2 sides that has gutters it will be approximately 15 metres in total.
so just to clear the gutters out I would charge £75 and if they want the fascias and soffits clean as well it would be £105

Back on the canvassing issue, the way I always look at it is is this: £30 x 13 (4-weekly) cleans a year is £390 a year. You've done 4 hours extra work and you're £390 a year up. In my book that's fine.

Matt, I like your advert board, where did you get them made and how much?

Another question (sorry off topic) you recently purchsed bullet camera/recorder from ebay is it any good?

Thanks

Hi Steve, my board cost £18 its on foamex and it was made by the same guy that did my van, he's local to me in Essex.

My bullet is very good, only problem the lead is only 2 metres long and I am in the process of getting a 15m extension lead for it.
I can't wait for the extension lead, it will save loads of time.

Gutter cleaning is good business. Hard work but good money.
