NCCA Newsletter & Technical Day
« on: April 13, 2010, 07:20:30 pm »
Those who are NCCA members - have you received the latest newsletter very recently?
Interesting its a new size. What do you think? I like the new size, more handy to read being smaller, but I did like the gloss pages of the previous style.

Also did you notice mention of a Technical Day in Warrington. This is going to be on Wed 9th June.
I went to one in Shrewsbury last September. Carpet cleaners from London, South Wales and Scotland were there, and thought the day was really good, so I offered to locate a venue for a Technical Day in the North West.

I understand it has been confirmed that the 3 guest speakers, each having a 90 miinute spot will be Cleansmart from Nottingham, Dry Fusion from Chorley, and Amtech from Eastbourne.
Looks like it will be a good day and I am looking forward to it.

I understand members £30 inc vat, non members very welcome £40 inc vat.  This includes a buffet lunch.

I have not got any detail on the content of their presentation yet.

It was a good turnout last September in Shrewsbury, Ken Wainwright was there and Paul Pearce turned up, plus others who frequent the forums and no doubt some who dont, so who knows for Warrington.

Well done Joe for taking the time to help organise this event. It will be a great day for all concerned.

Did you also see the flyer for the NCCA Leather Technical Day at Northampton University?  I gather that it's more about the technical side of leather rather than the cleaning but should be a fascinating insight with invaluable knowledge being shared. I don't know who's lecturing but should be a great day for all you leather cleaners. I don't think anything like this has ever been done before for our industry.

As for the new format for Newslink, I also prefer the better paper with the previous format. I know this new size will save shed loads of £££'s just on postage.

Safe and happy cleraning :)

Quite like the new size format, but as has been mentioned already, it has lost a bit of its glossiness.
I'd guessed that a large part of the reason for the change was postatge costs. Should save the NCCA about 37% on postage
If there isn't enough time to do the job right,  how do we find the time to go back and do it again when the customer is not happy ?   Do it right the 1st Time.

Hi Ken
We think perhaps of the NCCA as organisers of 2 day courses leading to the possibility of taking the exam at the end of it with a view to becoming a member, but the Technical days I think are really essential especially as they are "Road Shows" moving around the country. Obviously needing the help of members to source a venue as the staff at Leicester is small in numbers, but thats no big deal.

Derek
I only got confirmation yesterday of who the 3 businesses were that are doing presentations, and what they are presenting is still to be confirmed - but looking at the names I think I can have a good guess and to me that looks good.
Will let you know as soon as I here (or anyone else no doubt).

Yes, it would have been nice if it had gone down - but would have been unusual dont you think.

Still, my charges to custy have gone up over the last 12 months so the rise is covered.

Just one week to go to the National Carpet Cleaners Association Technical Day.
Wednesday June 9th

Have you seen who the speakers are?
Keith Robertson - hard floor cleaning and maintenance guru.

You will have chance to ask questions to each of these PLUS meet loads of other carpet cleaners.

Venue is easy to find in Warrington - just off M62 north Cheshire - see how easy it is to find WA2 8PU

Hi Neil and thanks for the post.
What NCCA is trying to do is get around as many areas as they can.
Last year I went to a very successful day in Shrewsbury

I learnt that the day had been organised by Ray & Jackie Ausitn, NCCA members from Shrewsbury, but there were c/cleaners from London, South Wales and Scotland as well as everywhere inbetween.
When I say it was "organised" by Ray & Jackie, basically they found a suitable venue, did a little bit of running about, but the event is organised by the NCCA office back in Leicester.
There is only 3 admin staff there and they cant be out and about looking for venues, but they do have the organisational ability to draw 3 good speakers together and promote the event.

I volunteered to help organise one this year in Warrington - all I done is find a suitable venue and the rest has been done by NCCA staff in Leicester.

If any NCCA member would like to do the same as Ray & Jackie did last year, and I have done this year, all they have to do is contact Lewis Scroby at NCCA  0116 271 9550.

So Neil, if you are a  NCCA member, or know of one in your area, just get them to contact NCCA and take it from there.

If you like helping fellow carpet cleaners then its worth the effort.
