Canvassing Blog
« on: April 08, 2010, 11:01:12 pm »
Im starting a blog to let everyone know how my canvassing is doing and to give examples to new window cleaners struggling to get customers. This is how its going so far....

Set myself 120 new customers with the view of finding £720pcm minimum of new work.
Ive set myself a target of 3 months to achieve this target meaning i need 10 customers a week to stay on target. Ive set myself a small achievable targets rather than seeing it as one big target i would feel id never hit.

Day 1 - Went out yesturday knocking on doors and giving out tickets. Mostly got told they already have a window cleaner but carried on anyway. Eventually i found out that the estate was cleaned by a 60 year old guy whos been there since the 80s. Plodded on regardless. I managed to pick up 2 customers who wanted there frames cleaned (a service not carried out by the other wc). Great 2 customers at £6 a month
Carried on knocking but no joy. Probably pick more up when im seen working on the estate

Day 2 - Today i turned up but not with alot of enthusiasm for canvassing the estate from yesturday. I did notice another estate over the road from the one i was planning on canvassing and hit that one instead. Bingo !
Heard there window cleaner was a guy who lives in the pub (Not very professional). This estate is much larger and i could see potential straight away. Went knocking for 2 hours and came back with 7 customers. Still got majority of the estate to canvass tomorrow so very optimistic.

One away from target....... Anything over the target is a bonus but i have to hit my target

Anyone whos canvassing who would like to add to this feel free to do so
Updates to follow

2 & 3 bed semis. They are only on council estates but the way i see it is im still growing the business.

Im once i hit my target im going to have two days a week just casually canvassing aiming for 5-10 customers a week to steadily increase my profits

Im trad Richie

Prices are really low up this end of St Helens thats just the way it is. Im going to put the prices up £1-£2 in about 6 months time so i can ditch the bad payers and bad customers.

I have but things are still slow at the moment so im doing some more canvassing. Im just slowly building the business up then when the construction takes off i can either sell the work or rent it.

I havent canvassed today because i had a lot of work to collect. Ill be back canvassing monday with more updates

Day 3
Still canvassing the same estate and getting results. I keep finding new streets to canvass and its exciting thinking of how many jobs i can pick up. Went out tonight after a slow day and picked up the irst two houses i knocked for £7 a month. Picked a few more up along the way and then the last two i knocked.
Only canvassed for 1.5 hours but picked up 6 new customers.

Now i have 15 customers on the estaste and im back out tomorrow so cant wait

Day 4 (Yesterday)
I went out canvassing again and gained another 5 customers @ £6 . The houses are nice little 2/3 bed semis with 6-7 windows all round. Doing well there.

Day 5
Not canvassed today because i was doing admin. I got 4 customers phone up asking for cleans. One was another £6 job. Other three was from another estate. i got 2 @ £15 and 1 @ £10 so not doing too bad ;D
