 I`m afraid I haven`t mastered a squigee yet though  :-[
I can play the bagpipes and use a squeegee but a squigee...no.

I'm going to be pushing inside cleans this year as sooooo many people seem to have a window cleaner who can't do the insides as they can only WFP...

IMO in order to make sure you can do a quality job and provde a full window cleaning service you need to be able to trad as well.

I am WFP but learnt the ropes trad, and still carry a ladder so that I can access flat roofs etc...

You cant rightly call yourself a window cleaner if you cant trad. wfp is just a tool.

Imagine a carpenter who said i only do hammering but i cant saw wood! Would you call him a carpenter?

But if can can only hammer and not saw wood, what would you call him

but if a trad cant wfp, surely you cant call your self a window cleaner, I can wash leather & scrim, squeege & blade & WFP, so super window cleaner, and can saw and hammer nails.

if they price a house up and it has a balcony or long flat roof what do they say cant do that window it like a person who is scared of hieghts and saying i will only do bottom windows   COWBOYS

You have to take these thing into account when doing a risk assessment.
if it is unsafe to work from a flat roof then it will usually be left.

Matt

p.s. if my system packs up, I have a back up system.

what if your back up system fails ?

IF my back up fails, I would then have no alternative but to use my traditional gear.
but inaccessable windows would be left.
I can clean insides too but IMO I hate doing them. so I don't.
I have been a traditional window cleaner for 13 years and WFP for 12 months.

Matt
Reaching parts traditional window cleaners can not reach.

T L C I would not call WFP just a tool. I am sure there is a lot of skill involved. One still messes up until you get the hang of it.That is why when you change to WFP it takes you longer than trad because you have not developed the skill.

Trad for me was easy to pick up.  On the other hand, I foud WFP was harder to master.  Same results, just a different skill, only u need to understand the technology to maintain it.  Not like looking after your bucket :)

No matter the method each one needs its own respect, and to respect the operator.  If the windows gets cleaned, results the sames, then IT IS THE SAME BL**DY JOB !!!  8)

If your carpenter used a trad saw, then went on to use an electric saw and produced sames results, how can he not be called a carpenter.    ;D

The only thing you need to be able to call yourself a window cleaner is a pulse. I was watching a window cleaner a couple of weeks back and all he was doing was ragging the windows. Still got paid and thats what counts.

That's right.  When I was just trad, lots of my work was by ragging, especially Georgian windows.  If ever I got comments about my method, my answer was: "Are the windows clean?"  The answer had to be "Yes" because they were! I then went on to say that I would rub them with the top of my head if I felt like it but if they were clean afterwards I'd done my job and they had to pay me!!

That just about sums it up. We are window cleaners, as long as the end result is a clean window and a satisfied customer what does the method used matter!!!

Can't use a squeegee?

Must take ages doing insides, or don't they do them either.
