Jonny, it might be better to ask this question on the general cleaning section, thier are some car valeters on there who could help you more.

Rug cleaning  can get very technical so might not be a good idea to dabble in it without some proper training, plus not a big call for it as a stand alone service.

There is a lot of information and clues about Rug Cleaning on the Cleanfax site.

A talk of Rug cleaning plants etc.

However I think Barry Pearce is our rug expert.

Ian. Most of the rugs that we get invovled with have already been cleaned by the trade, OK, we do one a day and they nearly all dry naturaly but its not good policy to generalise about methods and types, too many varieties, but Jonny has the right idea about being static and mobile, the difficulty is that once you mention that word RUGS on its own the people get the impression you are some sort of a specialist, so you are landed with all the problems of restoration and if you are a one man band how are you going manage an 18 x 12 when its wet?  Then there is your insurance, as well as your public liability you have product liability, goods in transit, and goods in trust policies, add these to your unit and vehical outlay and if you do any work you then have your running costs. And you need one thing to cover it all-----PROFIT
