Carpet cleaning is starting to take its toll ,  just starting to get enough work but unfortunetly i have arthritis in my knees so i've been advised to stop carpet cleaning as knees are currnetly like ballons.

Just starting to get enough work to make a good living but health comes first , I'll pop in on this forum though,    Paul

There is much you can do for arthritic conditions, but unfortunately, not courtesy of the NHS

Consider, if you will, the following.

Jack Nicholas played his last competetive golf match a couple of weeks ago at St  Andrews.

He is 79 years old and had both knees replaced quite recently.........

I doubt that many people would have guessed

The fluid on your knees can be eliminated easily and there's a variety of things you can do for the arthritic problem......cartilage can even re grow!

Get yourself off to the Quacks and ask him to send you to see a consultant about having your knees washed out, I had this done some years ago and afterwards it was like having new knees with NO PAIN!!

But alas my back is buggered now and I am heading the same way as you!!

If I take the pills I have no pain but want to sleep, donot take the pills and the pain keeps me awake, now waiting to go for a MRI scan.
I get better looking each day!!

Hi Sailor!

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I too have arthritis.

It is a strain of Rheumatoid Arthritis called Ankylosing Spondylitus.Diagnosed 25 years ago when i was 25.

If i don't excercise i stiffen up. Mornings are murder - can't move!
Keeping active is essential for my condition and all the years stuck behind a desk was detrimental to it. Nowadays cleaning a suite really sorts me out ! I also swim daily from June - October in the sea. On occaisions i need anti inflamatory medication to get me through.

I know there are other forms of arthritis where the opposite is true. Paul find out what sort you have, treatments available etc. A real shame to give up having come this far......

My best wishes

In 1973 I started fitting carpets, after all that belting with a knee kicker by about 1978 I had about three bouts of burseritis(housemaids knee not quite sure about spelling)I know not quite the same as you and was told I would have to give up carpet fitting.  As I was no good at anything else I carried on but just used knee pads since which I have never had a problem.

Nowdays most carpetfitters use trousers made by a co called snickers which have foam pads built into the knees cost about £60.00. Although expensive these are much better than the strap on type you can buy in B&Q.
If your problem is made worse by the swelling from housemaids knee and it sounds like it is Take two weeks off your knees while the swelling goes down and then return using pads(The first time it happened to me I used a cushion which also works but is a bit of a faff) whenever you are kneeling.  I am 90% sure it will solve your problem It did for me and I have had absolutly no trouble at all for the last 27 years

Doctor's are often over cautious if I had payed any attention to them I would I have spent The last 27 years in some boring office job for no good reason

Hope this helps  Michel

Gentlemen and fellow sufferers...

I have suffered since my mid teens, could barely walk at 28 with my entire back ' locked up'.....

I am now 61 and although I still suffer from Sciatica and Spondylosis neither of which will go away. I can still clean carpets and suites.

The reason for my strange name, is that, due to the years of suffering and paying for temporary relief on a regular basis, I decided - about 7 years ago - to train in Pain Relief therapies.....

I was shocked at what I learned, but am eternally grateful that I trained........

As I can now control my pain, do NOT take any pain killers and have far greater posture / flexibility.

Unfortunately, I am based in the West of Scotland  which is some distance from any of you.

The most enlightening therapy I've trained in was evolved by trial and error by a gent' in Harrow, called Alexander Barrie

I would urge all of you to check out this man's web site, alexander barrie pelvic correction, should take you there

Paul

I will tell you how to get rir of the fluid from your knees e' me at    click4therapies@aol.com

Dear All

Only those that have been in this much pain can know...

6 years ago had a prolapsed L5 disc, 6 weeks of unending pain also had cheat infection half way through which took me to a whole new level of pain (coughing fits)

As I got semi-erect I read about a natural substance from a lady who had rheumetoid arthritis and had massive improvement within 4 days, I tried it myself. before taking it I could not even touch my back with one finger, 1 week later I could literally punch myself in the back...

This substance is GINGER. You can buy it in capsules at the health food shop for about £2.50. If it works great, if not it cost you £2.50... nothing.

Keep us posted

Regards
