Website Feedback?
« on: March 31, 2010, 06:04:04 pm »
Hi all, just had my website designed by Mark at DP Print (carpet cleaning websites). I would appreciate your comments good and bad if any?

Many thanks
Keith

page one, nice. thats the important thing.

if i was to be picky and this is personal choice for me, i'd like to see pictures of you cleaning rather than (what could easily be) stock photo's, (all though i'm not saying they are just that they could be if you catch my drift)

anyway, nice site and page one. "result"

Keith,

I don't know what your converting keywords are but when I tried carpet cleaner dudley, you came up at no.1.

Just out of interest, why did you have another site when the present one is doing so well?

Ask Mark about the price all I can say I think it was good value for money but I'm far from an expert there are some very knowledgable people on these forums this is why I have asked for your opinions.

The site is very new and I will ask Mark to upload some new photo's when I get some decent one's. You know how it is you take photo's but rarely do they come out as you want them too. I call it the wow factor a really dirty cream suite or carpet and then a nice crisp clean finished job. Got a suite to do which might give some decent photos, still working on the carpet pictures. I want my photo's will be real and not manufactured.............?

Garry, my 1st site was done by a friend of a friend and I have asked him time and time again to update it but I'm still waiting. In my frustration I decided to go with another site, targetted at a local area to me, I'm now thinking of going for another url linked to it for another local town.

I think they call it natural SEO the site wording is built around the area your targetting?
I also believe that there are no meta tags, keywords for the title, description as of yet. Would this improve my listing?
regards
Keith

Keith,

Fair enough reason!. Nothing more frustrating than not being able to change a site.

Page Title = Vital

Description = Important

Keywords meta tag = Not important at all as is not used for ranking purposes.

Mark does a decent job of the tags so he should sort these for you.

It looks like there are only about 8 sites trying to optimise for Dudley so it should go up a lot more yet.

Just ordered some leaflets from the same company ( DP Print) and was thinking of updating my website too with the same company so thanks for the post.
I personally find the moving images on the top a little annoying and cant quite see the reason for the links page as it promotes other companies ( theres also a spelling mistake ), but on the whole I like it...very informative...just what the customer wants !

Good luck with it

Hi will try to address all the points mentioned above

1.The sites are £200 + Vat

2. We add meta tags when the content of site is finished as the meta tags have to reflect the content of the site
although google no longer uses meta tags A few of the less popular engines still do

3. Re slider your choice if you dont like a slider on your site then we wouldn't fit one

4. Editing the content al our sites are CMS so you can edit the content yourself if required

5.The links network is one of our key seo techniques - we only link relevant sites I Carpet Cleaning to Carpet cleaning sites so is essential
this is there for ranking purposes this is dynamic and is growing all the time

Think I covered everything

We have been swammped with webdevlopment work so at the moment our site carpetcleaningwebsites.co.uk
doesn't reflect the style of sites we have recently been progressing towards. Am hopiong to get the site updated over the Easter holidays

Our lates project for Rogers carpet cleaning can be viewed on www.blackberry-webdesign.com
This is a work in progress feel free to comment

If you think any particular function would be good to have on carpet cleaning site
let us know and if this is popular we will consider writing a component for this
for the websites

I am sure most would like to see an automatic quoting function similar to the Chem Dry one.
I clean carpets
I dry Buildings

This is based on a quick glance, but overall I like it   ;D

The only thing I'm not keen on, as others have said, are the moving images.
Can the transition time be slowed down?

Yes uses jquery for slider so can be any time frame you require.

We use sliders to get extra content on page for google all the slider text and
images are indexedable

I don't like the moving photos especially from the 3rd one then it flashes all the way across to the first one - made my eyes hurt! ::)

I like it alot.

Mark is doing some of mine.

First one is www.carpet-cleaning-orpington.co.uk

Was on first page of google in a couple of days. Very impressed. I'm even using the logo he re-designed for a van wrap on my new Sprinter.

Personally I am very happy with the site and Mark has always given great advice and answered any questions or points I have raised.  :)
A credit to Mark and he's very busy which is reassuring, he will complete the title and description keywords as soon as the wording is finalised.
I have spoke to Mark today to book in my next one, can't stand still too long URL's need to mature with age and bring in the work, well that's the plan.

Thanks for all your comments!

Cheers Mark. ;)

nice site, the only thing i'm not so keen on is that it's almost identical to many others.

Gents, I know we are talking about personal likes and dislikes but we are missing the point a bit aren't we.
All of our websites are aimed at our customers, to give them the confidence that we are Professional's at what we do day in day out and to bring in business for us, and really we are being tunnel visioned. We just compare one site to another from all of the country.

If you were a potential customer who wants their carpets, upholstery or leather cleaned would this site tick all the right boxes, if you know what I mean.

From free phone numbers, content, photo', introduction should there be a price guide on there and a general feeling of the site.

What do you feel about puting prices on your site?
I personally would never put a price on but I would say prices for a 12' x 10' lounge starts from £..:.. this will give an indication that you are not over expensive.
From experience if you publish prices the customer knows how much you charge so they don't even call you, they move on to the next cleaner for a quote and then compare.
What are your thoughts?

the website is fine for the customers, the only point i was making is if your website is exactly same to some one 10 miles down the road then it's not very professional or unique, but then again that only applies to the design of the website. as in terms of content etc it's fine.

As regards to prices, it has worked really well for us 95% of the times when customers ring, they actually want to book our service, they know roughly how much it will be and they are happy with that. We dont have to convince them and do all the talking. it's just the case of taking their name address and pricing the job up. when we had no prices on our phone calls actually decreased not increased, why? I couldn't answer that.

We would never use the same site for two cleaners in the same area
These site should be looked on as low cost advertising for £200 in your
first year and £48.00 Hosting in subsequent years.

The sites  dont have to generate many jobs over a year period to pay for themselves

All the cleaners we have built sites for have made thare money back 10 fold

Who says you cant have more than one website for your company - my printing company as several websites all of them generating income

The internet is were people are looking for services - I think carpet cleaners should look at the internet as they would news paper advertising and think as a website as year long advert for your company.... having several websites (adverts!!) out there on the net
