Gardiners Super Lite 40
« on: March 30, 2010, 04:20:52 pm »
Can anyone on here advise me please.

I have today dropped section 3 of the 40ft Super Lite.

It has chipped and cracked on the neck where it enters section 2.

The damage doesn't look too bad but I'm not sure what to do. Should I get it repaired, replaced or leave it as it is.

Many thanks in advance.

The safest bet is to get a replacement. However to put your mind at ease mine has exactly the same damage and has been fine. There isn't too much stress at the top of the pole, so you should be ok.

It depends on how far down the pole the damage has gone.

I have broken the end of my no 2 pole, it only effects the last 1 inch of the pole, I have had no problem using it for the last 2 years or so.

at the moment i'm using an SL2 with pretty much all the top 5 sections chipped at either end.

my section 3 has been cut and pulled together and same as section 5.

not ideal but its still working!

i wouldn't buy a section just because of chipping personally

It has a slight crack on the inside, about 10-15mm from outside edge in.

As you've said, there's not much pressure on joint as it's near edge, so will probably just leave it.

If its just a crack, put some glue on it to seal it.
