Personally I'm a leafleter. We were lucky with our circumstances when we started but, with stencilled, photocopied, black and white A5 flyers it was a full time job in less than 6 months.
Out of interest door knockers
What do you say if a customer tells you they have a window cleaner but want a price anyway
Have you ever knocked on a window cleaners door by mistake? What kind of reaction did you get?
Do any of you employ a different method of marketing / adversing? Is it any good?
What do you say if a customer tells you they have a window cleaner but want a price anyway? It depends why they say they want a quotation. If it's just to get a cheap job then I'm not interested. If it's due to persistently poor service (quality of work etc.) then I will supply a quotation. Not wanting to be contentious but I've even obtained a job because the trad window cleaner couldn't do all the windows as he didn't have the tools to do them.
Have you ever knocked on a window cleaners door by mistake? What kind of reaction did you get?Yes I have - more than once. It wasn't a problem. In fact it was pretty good humoured.
Do any of you employ a different method of marketing / adversing? Is it any good?I have advertised in parish mags, yellow pages, yell, shop notice boards, delivered leaflets and even rent a page on another window cleaner's website. Results have been mixed. For pounds per work obtained and least effort my best bet has been the website. It's just a very occasional enquiry but, due to the area, they are usually pretty good enquiries. YP and yell have netted me some fairly decent work too - but the price to get it has been much higher. My ads in parish mags and shop noticeboards have proved to be not really worthwhile so far.
