ive noticed a lot of bt engineers wearing helmets up ladders recently, ive been contemplating using my skate ramp/mtb helmet next time i do gutter cleaning. anyone else think its a good idea

i was also thinking of using my sportsbike knox back protector too....

Hard hats should be worn if there is a risk of something falling on you.

I guess, cleaning windows, somethin may fall on you, a loose roof tile perhaps.

Gutter cleaning. Well your head height is normally above the gutter. So perhaps the chimmney stack may fall and hit you, but then i'd be more worried of falling off the ladder.

So, unless your worried about a cloud falling on your head, or a bird poo'ing on you. Then i wouldnt think a hard hat would be neccesary

simple thing is just don't go up ladders as its illegal and your insurance is invalid in the event of an accident!

course im worred about the fall, theres only about 1% chance of a roof tile coming off!

i wouldnt wear a rock climbing helmet, as they only protect the top of the head from rock falls.

yeah i think i will try it out, who cares what people think of you, i think people will admire you actually.

on a side note, is it best if a ladder falls backwards to hang on then do a roll if poss to expend the energy, like they do in parkour?

or drop straight down?

dainese and others have invented the air bag for motorcycle racing leathers, maybe cleaningspot can invent the air bubble for window cleaners, lol

Me too actually Mogsy now that I think of it, it's a bit like the concept of wfp. Still there will be some who think it will look silly. Let's face it, it's not as if walking around with a smashed in skull doesn't look cool so who could blame them.

Yep i agree to that there is a pic on hse website of a person on the floor making it look as though they have fallen and  have a cracked skull,

but the thing is its says on hse website you can end up with a cracked skull from a fall or slip or trip,

now that could apply to falling from height/ladders

or slip or trip/wpf
