He is going to speak to the american person/company who created it to see if they have a back up or a file to beable to put it back on the server  :o,

Surely if he built your site he should have a copy/back up of your site - to work on it :o Maybe he is not very good, or he is completely outsourcing it - getting someone to do the site for him ::)
