From 1st of april the government are adding 3p VAT to a cost of diesel/petrol. They should stick it on fAgs or even beer (i drink but would be happier to pay more on a pint that something we all need - fuel - in everyday life in one form or another).

It be £1.50 a liter befor you know it, and most of cost is to do with government tax/vat

Do you mean duty on fuel going up Ryan.
Duty and Vat are both added to the cost of fuel, if it is vat we will claim
it back every quarter when we put in return.

However it will affect the ordinary people giving less to spend on
luxuries like carpet cleaning.

I have 4 vans on diesel and the TM on petrol, think i will get them all full
before lunchtime, however i will only save £4 and it will take half of that to
get them all to fuel station around the town  do have about 10 25lt containers
i could fill too

Deisel has gone up 4p this month alone    and thats before todays budget now averaging at 116.8

We now pay the 2nd highest diesel prices in europe, thanks Gordon 

Any rise in duty is a direct tax on the poor and the most vulnerable in our society, all costs will rise as a result.

They couldn't care less about the planet cos if they "Really" did, they'd knock money "Off" to make us all want to change to bio fuel.... They think we're all a bit thick!!!!

4 vans Andrew , what you complaining about ?  

I have one van and a t/m and burner that run on diesel, if i put just £1.00 on  a cpl of job tickets i will more than
cover the cost, Are things really that bad? that your,e worried about a few pence.

Do you really believe that a different party would be any different ? I dont think so   

In fact the more i think about it the more i will use it to my advantage, sob story to custy about how much running costs have gone up, im sure i will be on the winning side
Got to admit its sad to see all of the c/c who are earning lord knows what per day moaning about a few pence

4 vans yes, only 1 for carpet cleaning, the others are cleaners vans.

Theonly worrying thing at the mo, is where the price is going to end up, yes we can cover it by adding a quid here and there, which is a slight rise for custy, but it affects them too, having less to spend.

Having spoken to a few long established c/cleaners, things are quieter,
although i am up feb and march on last year, this Jan for us was non existant with the weather/resession.

Unless you've got a 200 mile round trip on jobs, the way to reduce fuel usage is to reduce weight carried, so only ever have a half tank or less, and consider only carry the actual equipment needed for the job.
I used to always carry a full 250L tank of water around. Not anymore, I just carry what I think I will need.

The cost is a joke, it's enough of a struggle as it is...but this is just going to make matters worse.

the way to reduce fuel usage is to reduce weight carried, so only ever have a half tank or less, and

also .... accelerate slower and brake earlier, just driving short journeys uses a lot of fuel, careful driving will save loads.

There is going to be a fuel protest up here in may and thats the bikers will be the same as two years ago and its a go slow on the m62 then into salford..
