Select a Trade Advertising
« on: July 14, 2005, 09:16:08 pm »
hi all
I have been aproached by a firm to advertise on a laminated A4 Telephone directory bookmark (A to Z of different trades sort of thing)

Have any of you taken this advert on and have you had any success with it?

I have read on many occasions about certain types of advertising not working does this sound like one of them

any comments would be most usefull

Have you ever seen one of these things?
Do you ever look at ad boards in supermarkets?
Do you look at estate agents calendars?
Do you pay estate agents for being refered?

I get calls all the time from such firms - my opinion (although i cannot qualify it) is that it is chucking our hard-earned down the drain. I just tell them i don't need more advertising as i'm busy enough....

I did make a huge mistake last year when i was a bit greener - did a deal with Tesco that has tied me in for 2 years to advertise business cards  in store. NOT ONE CALL in the 7 months they have been in place.

This costs me £6.60 per week. However as they are contracted to supply the cards - i take all but a couple out every 2 weeks the day b4 they top them up. Have got a nice stash of cards at least!

I was approached by select a trade and decided to give it a go ... it's much cheaper than my usual advertising. I've advertised in the domestic cleaning section and in the 5 weeks since it was issued i've generated enough regular cleans to cover the cost of the initial advertising. Perhaps it depends on the nature of work or maybe the area (i'm North Lincs) ... or maybe it's just a fluke!!! Michelle :)
