I am suprised no one has yet commented on CARPEX, the exhibition yesterday and today at Coventry Ricoh centre.

I went today, met up early on with Alan Turner, Edge to Edge from Swindon and spent a few hours on the stands and having a chin wag over lunch. Thanks for your company Alan.

Also met Ray and Jackie Austin from Shrewsbury, Roger Peach from Stockport, and Ken Wainright from Alvechurch.
Amongst others, had good chat with Richard and Jule from Chemspec, Cleansmart (good to see Matt again), and a business in Lymm, not far from where I live, who are doing a very nice orbital cleaner from Hruby - this type of machine is big in the US.

Roger Peach (Doctor Carpet) commented that whils he was doing his talk for the NCCA on the Thursday, Derek West was sat in the lecture room nice and quiet - that deserves an award - Derek being quiet.

Forgot to mention - Prochem had a very compact truck mount on their stand - anyone else take a look at it?

I really enjoyed the day out and trip down with Derek and Courtney (thursday) Roger made an excellent speech, wish my bank manager was as nice and as understanding as him  Keith Robertson also made a first rate speech on adding hard floors to a cleaning business.

Great to see you and Alan and score of other too. I had a great two days at Carpex. Most of the first day was taken up with the seminars, so I didn't see that much, but "chewed plenty of fat" with friends and colleagues.

The new compact TM that Prochem have taken on board looks a very attractive proposition, and many will have seen US pictures of the machine mounted in a Transit Connect. Although not of their own manufacture, I was told that the designer has good Prochem heritage, and this is one of the reasons it was taken on board.

Perhaps the machine that caught my attention more than most was the aforementioned Hrubyfrom UK Cleaning Systems. Should be much quicker in use than a rotary. Ray McLoughlin was telling me that Carpex has  been so successful for them that he was going to be booking for the NEC Cleaning Show next year

Now, if Sterling was to make ground on the US$, we'd all be a lot happier

This was the one at the show, but with an added heater. The spray pump was 70psi, twin jets.

I think the price with fully equipped was about £3.5k
Just the bare machine was somewhere under £3k

Joe, Yes had a look around the compact truckmount on Prochems stand.  The guy that designed it is the same guy that designs all Prochems truckmounts.  Its a nice looking unit.  Yes it is compact however if you had a saddle tank fitted then by the time you have the waste tank in the van it would no longer be compact.  Most CCs in the USA dont bother with fresh water tanks, just go direct feed.  Looking at the specs of the machine i noticed that yet again Prochem are under running the vac blower.  The blower in that unit could easily be running a extra 150 cfm. I also think that the price is to high.

From memory, the Hruby was £2300 and the tank and sprayer was an extra £600. All plus Vodka And Tonic.

For a lot of us, we would not need the onboard tank, sprayer etc.

I went on friday after a good old p_ss up the night before with Steve Knight, Glyn Waterworth, Clive War and Bob Allen. I saw Joe Hatton but every time I saw him he was engaged in deep conversation so couldn't introduce myself. Chatted with Ken Wainwright who never seems to look a day older Would have liked to have met up with Derek West but he went deliberately on Thursday to avoid me I was disappointed that Hydramaster weren't there, as they have some great new machines to show off but apparently they couldn't afford it which is a shame.

I mentioned in my first post on this thread that it was nice to meet Matt Flewitt from Cleansmart again.
I bought a CFR Perfect Heat off him a few years ago..

He had a stand with just his top of the range machine on it - 3 vac.

It was a working demo - complete with silencer.
Lots of interest in it being shown.
What I was impressed with was the heat the inline heater was producing - the brass coupling at the wand was very very hot - and that was from stone cold water in the machine tank.
