Has been for a while now, but there doesnt seem that much of a fuss made (via the media) at mo. Where i am its £1.20 a ltr, (if im rite 56p is tax, plus 17.5% VAT) how high will the cost be untill it seriously starts to affect your business.

Concidering theres an election coming up, the partys aint saying much on the matter :

Most garages around me are selling diesel at 113.9 a litre and petrol at 112.9 a litre.  The price of a barrel of oil has gone up again hence the reason for the price at the pump going up.  Its criminal that the  goverment adds so much to the price of fuel then have the balls to add VAT.  At end of the day we all need to use diesel and or petrol so we will pay the price regardless.

Like Richie says - we all have our needs for the stuff and cant do a lot about price hikes, except use our right foot carefully - both on the accelerator and brake.
Plan what journeys we make ie perhaps try to book in jobs to the north of us on a certain day of the week, those south of us on another and so on. It may not always be feasible to do that but its worth a try.

The oil companies are getting greedy. They know the British are a soft touch and will pay the price without even a murmer. A coordinated and well organised protest is called for nationwide. I would suggest that every motorist entering a garage forecourt ONLY buys fuel, nothing else. If this was maintained the garages would be up in arms because they only make money in their shops. They couldn't survive on fuel sales alone.

The profit on fuel at the pump is tiny. The TAX is what makes up most of the price so if you wish to protest take your protest to the people who are supposed to represent you in Government YOU KNOW, the people who are about to give themselves a pay rise.

Even LPG is going to be hitting 70p/litre soon, making the TM less economical to run.

Might be better option to get a diesel TM and run it on red, considering it cost about a grand to convert petrol to LPG in the first place, long time till you get your money back!

Agree with Robert, its the tax and vat that make up the bulk of the cost. There are other ways of making money through taxs, surley puting the price down ab bit (just 20p min would be something).

The government should take the blame.

I got the wink about two months ago re price increase and filled up my (that would be telling) also glad the wife’s car is diesel methinks vat will also go up in 2011 20%


I can’t believe the non-essentials cc carry in their vans (think that will save a few bob )

Len, your right - what we carry about but dont use is weight we are carrying - more weight is less miles to gallon.

The people most affected are those on fixed incomes as employees and from all accounts earning a pittance compared to carpet cleaners who, if we're to believe what's posted on forums earn more than Doctors, Accountants, Pilots, etc.

Yes fuel costs are rising but as far as I can see c/c charges are rising at a far greater pace and by being more efficient with your time and your approach to work you can easily overcome this little expense.

My " GO ELECTRIC " was slightly tongue in cheek but you could still make as much, probably more profit without using the GAS GUZZLING T/M's.

You know the technology is there, but choose to ignore it so you pay the price.

NOT PROMOTING ONE SYSTEM AGAINST ANOTHER just suggesting there are always other options to consider and which the smart operator will utilise with massive savings ............with smaller vehicles, less product usage, much smaller outlay on machinery and very lowmaintenance costs
