Question for SL2 users?
« on: March 18, 2010, 02:14:58 pm »
Hi been asked to clean two blocks of residential flats ground to sixth floor windows, top floor is pretty high and probably realistically speaking reaching the limits for WFP.

The question is for WC's with experience of using the SL 56 which has a 62FT reach, do you think this pole would be a suitable choice for cleaning the highest windows in the picture? the 10 windows at the top of the apex are just in-fill panels so wont have to be cleaned.

At the moment we use the 56FT Facelift pole but have begun to realise how heavy and flexible this pole is when working up to 60FT.

Would appreciate any feedback on using the SL2 -56 fully extended for reasonable lengths of time before making my choice and placing an order.

Thanks

would the sl2 even reach that?

floor heights are normally 10ft so it would be close.

I've never been to bed with an ugly bird but I've woken up with loads!

Hi Alan.

Yes it's going to be close but without investing in Ionics new 72FT pole for the measly sum of £2485.00 I'm hoping an SL2 will get the sixth floor.

We are now cleaning plenty of properies WFP at height so I'm looking to find the best pole for this purpose, never used a composit pole before only telescopic so have a few concerns about sections sticking togeather and how easy it will be adding and removing sections whilst working?

Do you use an SL2-56?

Wrap some electricians tape below the joints, letting gravity do the job of holding pole together and always twist anticlockwise to remove sections.

I know someone that does it upto 100ft from the floor, although Gardiners and the new 2 other suppliers of the modular pole dont recommend over 62 it is being done.

I would look around as theres pole like this now with a guarentee saw a pole like this at windex today from new supplier and they guarentee the pole and adding sections is about £75 each  ;)

I clean many apartments blocks at this height and you will have no problem whatsoever using the SL2, providing you are careful.

Like Ian, I looked at the modular pole that Thermoclean sell, unlike the SL2 this pole has a reach of 62', it weights 2.84kg (pole only)

The cost is £750 and with extra sections price at a low price of £75

This pole also benefits from having rubber hose clips on the base of all its sections, you then press the pole hole into this to stop the hose flapping about, imo a design feature that gardiners and other modular suppiers should use.

As with every pole its the business end that really matters, well this company have indrodused a new lightweight dual trim brush with a choose of 2 or 4 (pencil or fan) jets. the prices is also cheaper than the rest of the compeition £24.95.

Both myself and Ian ws impressed with this brush head that we ordered them for ourselves, when they arrive I will be able to give more feedback on them.

Simon

if you are in a rush I would either order one from

Cleaning Technology Solutions
Tel 0141 354 1614
Price £750 + vat

or

Brodex

Telephone 0800 161 3212
Price £895

personally I would go for the 1st one for the following reasons.

The 4 jet brush head and gooseneck is by far the best lightweight brush I have seen and the replacement poles only work out at £75 each, which is at least a 20% saving on other companies.

The brodex pole is identical to the gardiners one, even the bag it comes in is the same.

Hi Hydro.

I'm interested in the modular pole that you have recommended but cant find any info about this pole on the internet, do Cleaning Technology Solutions have a web-site and does their pole have a particular name?

Thanks for the info anyway I'll give them a call Monday, do you know where there based and are they just retailers of this pole or do they have it manufactured? if their not too far from Bristol I might see if their happy for me to go see them and perhaps have a demo with this pole set up, that way if I like the pole I might be able to purchase one directly after the demo.

With a modular pole do you add sections whilst the pole is on the ground can you lift 60FT of pole vertical from the ground or do you add sections whilst the pole is lent against a building?

Hi Simon

The web address is http://www.cleaningtechnologysolutions.co.uk/

It doesn't look like its is finshed just yet.

With a modular pole you can lift from the ground about 4 sections, you then feed the other poles as you send the pole up the building.

When you call them, mention me please, I meet them at the windex show on thursday.

I will give them a call and tell them you passed on their details, shame their such a long way from Bristol as I like to see what I'm buying before spending my money   Perhaps they can send me a brochure or something.
