I want to invest in a new pole , mainly for normal domestic work , especially to get obove those conservatory windows  I have a fibre glass at moment and its too wippy, what would you choose the SLX 18 23'reach or SLX 22 27' reach .

Go for the slx 25 - should cover 99% of your domestic requirements.

considering excessive wear issues reported on here 12 months and done i would buy a brodex hydra alloy the sections can be taken off and added when needed i use an 18ft for 99% of my work including above connys then make it up 25ft for 3 storey townhouses etc

or if your intending to spend lots of money on a domestic
pole i would go for the glyder looks a far better put together pole

Ive just got a slx 18 and it is brilliant for all my domestic work, so light and a nice small closed length. I is perfect for really akward windows above conservatorys and is easy to use at shallow angles of 20 - 30 degrees.

I bought (as regular readers of my posts will be bored to death with  ) an SLX35 this time last year and use the top 4 sections (about 20ft) for all my domestic work including over conservatories, rooflights and even third floor (think farm houses - not massive Georgian town houses). I add a section to take it to 25ft for third floor flats work and add two sections plus fibreglass end section for 4th floor flats.

I have ordered an SLX 22 which will do all the above not typed in red plus give me an extra 2ft.

But the advice to get an SLX 25 seemes excellent to me and If it is the same as the old SLX30/35 you will be able to slide the biggest section off and use it as a 20ft to save weight and just add it when you need it.

BUT ... check the closed lengths - the SLX's come in 4ft 9" and 5ft 3" I believe. My current pole is I think 5ft 3" but the SLX22 is 4ft 9" and so a bit easier in confined spaces but has more sections.

I have the 25 which is fast aproaching the 2 year old mark and my missus has the 18. I would say get the 25 or biggest you can afford. As for wear issues, I've found with the new clamps and some tlc the pole doesn't wear. If though you'll use it in sandy block paveing and then not clean the pole hose or rinse out the sand from the pole then yes it will wear.

18' glass fibre, carbon is not needed.

In summary for 18', buy a cheaper pole with a short closed length.

An 18' carbon pole makes a lot of sense. I have a 35' slx and an 18' slx.The 18'slx is the best pole I have ever used. Its so so light and its very narrow to hold. Use one for a full day and then try the xtel pole. I know which one you will chose.

Its not just the lighter weight, its the rigidty of the pole that transforms it in use. I doa 9 hour day. I clean at a very quick pace and my body has a lot easier time then useing an xtelpole.

If an 18' pole cleans most of your windows why use a 22'pole.its heavier. It dont make sense to me. If you have a lot of work where an 18' wont reach then go for a longer pole.

An 18' rocks.
