Thank you all for your feedback, this is greatly appreciated,
With my previous window cleaning business I was very successful at getting new customers on board in my target area(s) and this is my initial thought to use my skills to benefit UK window cleaners.
The site would "organically" reach a good Google position over time but not on week one, the main method to attract customers is by "active" marketing, I would not rely on Google rankings as the keyword(s) and phrases related to Window Cleaning etc are flooded.
I take all of your points on board and understand your argument for the neighbour would ask the local window cleaner providing the service for their neighbour etc but as a nationally marketed network of window cleaners and high street marketing, coupled with national advertising and online marketing driving traffic to the site this would be an invaluable tool for those looking to spend their time making money rather than doing the tasks that do not actually make the money they only potentially bring the enquiries.
But i take all of your comments on board, thank you.
In reference to the following comments:
For what you would pay for an annual subscription, you could have your own website.
Very true but again this takes your time away from doing the task that is actually bringing you the money in.
According to original post, you would have 2 other competitors from you post code area
Yes to provide the customer with choice, but this is an area still being looked at and as i mentioned above your comments have been taken on board.
I pay for Yell.com and it is not exclusive. If I could be listed at the top of Google for a reasonable annual subscription fee and my rivals are not included I'd be happy with that.
Well Yell.com is nationally recognised and a powerful competitor but not focused on just this industry, and as you mentioned your rivals are all there with you, apart from the idea of offering each postcode to a maximum of three window cleaners in any one given postcode is at this stage just an idea, as for Yell.com we aim to be as corporate but focused, nationally recognised and with active and targeted marketing to support the site not just another website trying to get you to advertise for £X amount.
To be as big as yell.com will take time, it has taken them years to get to their stage but they started small as well at one stage.
Again it all comes down to SEO as it would be a waste of time if when you search window cleaners + your area yell.com is higher up.
Again the aim is not to be dependent upon the likes of Google and just search engines to bring the traffic, this website will be actively market to the general public and commercial premises owners alike.
