Hi how do you know when its time to change your brush? also do you ever actually clean them? i know there effectively self cleaning in one way but is there anything i could od to keep them in top notch condition?

I clean my brushes in warm soapy water 1-2 a week as pollution and grease residual stick to them, rinsing well with water afterwards. When to change I find when I see abetter brush for sale or when they will not clean in the corner of the glass. Then retire them to fascia boards or conservatories.

Do you stick to the same brush wizard? i used a vikan once and then moved to a duel trim ionic, then over to the superlite which is fantastic

Had my superlite for about 7 months now and its still fine to use. The top edges of the stock are a little rounded, but the brush still cleans really well. As for cleaning it, i have only ever put a brush in a bucket of de-greaser after getting cooking oil/fat on it after cleaning a window on a kitchen at a school. I pick the odd paint flake out of the brush, but have never cleaned them.

If I like a brush I will stick to it. Super lite is such a brush and still use Bentley as I can make them into a brush for many uses. I have just made a custom brush for Georgian windows to fit small 8" panes out of a brush made for a floor dust pan scoop. It also goes between those bars over balconies.
I find if you run your hand over a brush when dry you will see the dirt fly off more so on a flagged brush and that’s when I wash them, its just good housekeeping.

What brush heads do you use?

We use Vikan heads and they can wear at the edges where they have rubbed against the cement work around the windows. When the plastic has worn away you get metal sticking out the side.

We get our brushes from Brodex with a 3 year warranty so we just get them replaced.
