Phew,taking some bookings at last
« on: March 11, 2010, 02:33:23 pm »
Still a way off being out the shizzle, but i have booked a couple of big jobs today  ;D Was getting too close, was weighing up either selling more studio equipment,my technics decks,or parts i had collected for my 16valve conversion for the car  ;D.
Posted on face book this morning how i am waiting to hear from mr tax man, flipping letter turned up in the post this morning.
Had even considered cleaning upholstery, using just my sprayer and the machine to suck it up,if the pump had gone !!
Closest i have been to going under in the 6 years i have been running

Keep plugging away Mark mate. I know of a few people who are strugging so far in 2010 (gona be a tough on i think).

Dont get too dishartend (easy to say i know), keep up the marketing side especialy quiet times. I take it you dont do upholstery, maybe invest in a course and tool and see what work you get.

All the best and well done on the jobs.

I think 2010 will be tougher then last year.

Mark, put the Roc on the back burner, you got to keep the business going as 1st priority - its your income.

Mark i would get shut of the car mate and get some good machines and it will get youmore work rather than struggle on as it sounds if the pump will go soon mate..

Look at newbies like derek whos going good as he has put his set up first and is paying off.

Good luck mark

Forget all this about the recession. The reason it's been quiet is because of the lousy weather. Once it warms up, we will all catch up with things and be extra busy, just stick it out, it's round the corner.

Hi Guys

I agree with Dave, Jan and Feb are challenging months for all but the well established and the weather has made this worse.

Make sure you discipline yourselves to market to your local businesses, a card delivered to a hotel, nursing home, office  now may be a job in 6 months .

Cheers

Hi Jason,yes i do upholstery,got 2 sofa`s to quote on Fri !
I like to have a grand at least in the bank as a buffer,i now have a grands worth of overdraft,at my disposal, but i don`t wanna touch that,if the pump does go again,i have money to get another one,and i will be calling Prochem, and asking what the feck is going on,pump seems to be ok at the mo,since i re connected the neg,and re routed the input pipe,so it`s not kinked (touch wood ).
Broke a front spring on my van,so need to get that sorted now, roads around here are worse than they are in Poland !! And i do forget i am in my van sometimes, and have to remember i can`t go full chat through the bends, fully laden !
Flipping wifes car had been playing up,choke sticking on,then, both the chokes were not opening at full throttle,i adjusted the cable,so you got full throttle,i drove it,and it stuck open !! Don`t know what all the fuss is about with Toyota,i just put my foot under the pedal, and moved it back up,so spent this morn stripping down her carb, and it`s now running sweet, one less expense top worry about.
Joe,the roc is on the back burner now, both van and roc tax run out end of this month,i am also putting some of that expense through my books,as i use it to go and do quotes  ;D,not sure what mr tax man will think of the stuff i am doing though.
I am a pretty positive person, but very pesimistic,i allway look for the worst thing that could possibly happen in a situation, and prepare myself for it,i don`t like surprises. Some people say you cause stuff to happen thinking like that, but not i,9 x out of 10,just as i think it it happens though !!
Some people just get chosen to ber ordeal workers,i think i may be one of them sometimes..
Clinton,i couldn`t part with it mate,my studio gear, and turntables etc would go first, and i wouldn`t get rid of them.
Have been helping my wife out at her language school contracts.

That`s pretty good ! One i got from Prochem was much more than that.it`s my 40th at the end of April,my bro in law is lending me his house for the weekend, going to have a full on rave,he lives in an old Niab house miles from anywhere, got a full on Turbosound rig,inc big active bass cabs,i get centre stage, best set of the night, and i get to play whatever the hell i like  ;D I have a penchant for really dark hard / industrial stuff, and will be diggindg some out for sure, was just hoping to be in a bit of a better financial situ for then.
But then my wife has said she is going to get me to write out a big list of all the stuff i have acheived,in the 40 yrs,so i can look at it whenever i feel doubt  ;D

If you just shout from your upstairs window Mark it'll save him reading it on here

Still have them here, had adhd as a kid,was not known about then,E104 sends me potty, took them a long time to realise the drinks they gave me sent me mad..So i left school with geog ,metalwork, and art gcse, hence why i became a chef, got city and guilds qualifications,so didn`t mind learning stuff that was interesting, just teach me something relavent to life !
Neil, they have far more important things to do,i only claim about 30% on the roc anyway  ;D

What's a roc??

It's that thing you can see in the picture. Something that a few of us have been trying to tell Mark to stop throwing money at!

When they were current yeah,i had a mk 1 gti when i was 18,back in 1988,it cost me a fortune, and was expensive to run.
Cost me £1800,good one now is worth 3x that !!
Just doing all the stuff to this one that i would have done to the first one if i had the cash, this one is like triggers broom. It`s getting the 2ltr 16v engine as it`s a good strong base for a lot more power,350 + easy with turbo,i had just about reached the maximum potential of this engine, without spending more than it would cost for a bigger engine, the car weighs nowt,as most of the interior is stripped out,so power to weight is good, and i can hit 60mph in under 7 sec in 2nd gear, not bad for a 26 yr old car.
Just a little hobby that`s all, keeps me out of trouble, and will see some track action too.
