wfp or trad ???????????
« on: March 10, 2010, 10:19:31 pm »
ive been cleaning windows since 1989/90. i was trad up until 4months ago.
now dont get me wrong wfp does do a fantastic job & its way faster than trad,
so with out sayin the money is better to.
but for me now there is something missing, & today i realised what it was.
i really miss the trad! after all these years on the windows im now not enjoying it.
before wfp there was a skill involved, now anyone could do it!
& for me that has just taken everything away from it.
the reason i turned to wfp was because i could no longer do ladder work due to back surgery,
either that or sell up. & i didnt want that. just wanted to know if i was alone on this or if any
of you guys felt the same????

I have been going about 4 years and use wfp when safety dictates. I still trad most houses and am happy doing it this way.
Do all the good you can, and make as little fuss about it as possible.

i still trad downstairs. i prefer it and enjoy doing it. i do see the point that getting good with a squegee was a learning curve, older w/cleaners had respect because they had honed their skills. now its all about how much your system cost. people looking down thier noses at trad or homebuilt systems just because they spend 15k. ever since this forum started i have always been keen on helping new people but now most of the time i cant be bothered. i have seen posts from members having digs  at trad, bragging about thier systems then  asking for help pricing a basic job. some have no respect for people who have done this job for years.
at the end of the day its what tool is suitable for the job you are doing. wfp is just another tool in the van

im 100% trad and have been for 16 years!some days i love it and other days i think to myself "this would be so much easier with wfp!!!"

also i have problems with my right knee sometimes.i dont think itll hold up another 16 years on the ladders! ::)

i do seem to have this fear that ill lose loads of custys when i changeover to wfp! ::)

its probably all in my head!! ::) ::)
price higher/work harder!

I have been wfp for 5 months prior to  that i was 25 years trad, 95% of my round is now wfp. After all these years it feels like a bloody holiday now going to work, and i look forward to it a lot more, saying that I do enjoy the wee bit trad i have left it keeps my skills ticking over.
Hand on heart though wfp has been a blessing for me, you could say i'm a born again window cleaner having changed over and gotten through one of the worst winters in years i'm looking forward to the months ahead.
By the way Dazmond i felt like you regarding losing customers but i'm totally confident about my working methods and the results and i haven't lost a single one.

wfp is not just a tool for in the van, to me thats just trad guys covering their ar*%$  or they are losing work to us, whats the point going wfp, if you are a true wfp cleaner like me you never need trad again except insides, fact,
