ever had your diary or books nicked?
« on: March 10, 2010, 08:50:07 pm »
I used my mrs car to go collecting last night cause my van was filling up. When i got back i forgot to get my diary out the side glove box so when i went out this mornin i didnt have it with me. As i only had two houses to do before droppin my van to the sign writers i didnt bother goin back for it. So when my mrs gets in at 2 after taking the dog for the a walk, she notices her purse and make up pouch missing out her hand bag. She then remembers she left the handbag in her foot well and forgot to lock the car. Lo and behold i go out to look through her car and my diary has gone too. This has all the addresses, prices, and some phone numbers and gate codes of every house i have done since 2nd of January.
I dont know if im gettin my self worked up about this but should I have any thing to worry about?
If at any point any of you guys get offered work for sale in the SO31 area or get any wind of this, info will be greatly appreciated (A good few drinks) for there names!

I know this is to let but a lesson learnt the hard way is a lesson defo learnt, get cumputer software and start using it, worst case if this happens again they have one days work, window cleaner pro (google search), or gearogo if want to go cheaper.

I used to use book and pen, lucky i was forward thinking before the enivitable happen.

Hope it does not cost you to much, I am guessing your in Southampton, word will get round if they try there luck, but I would head the warning you have been given, and hope they was just scumbags want a bag of smack and binned your book.

Remember to back up your files on a regular basis if you do use your computer Rich, or you will be in a similar predicament if you computer fouls up.

i cant work out how george and those other programmes work . apart from my diary my back up system is  a  big paper chart with a colour bar graph for each address. at a glance i can see if anybodys been left out as their bar is too low .

Don’t tell your custies you have lost there phone numbers and gate codes. I was in the property game and clients can be fickle about there details. If this go wrong and they have a break in they might blame you, for irresponsible data control. I would just tell them you are updating you records as your computer has crashed and you need details again.

w w,   i did download George (free trial) and looked briefly at wc pro but i just couldnt get my head around  printing off my daily work and then following it through properly .
often i look at my diary and as im driving along change my mind  on a whim as to which customer gets done and who doesnt on which day.  then my backup bar- graph system catches the ones i missed ,few days later

i will look at wc pro and george again tho as im sick of colouring in bar graph !

johnnyald, I use george. You can just print the weeks work off and mix and match when you do the job, doesn't have to be done in the order its printed, just tick it off on the print out and make sure you update gorge every night.George will just sort it out if you miss one,It will still be on the work due list until you tell george you done it

Not certain but i think you will find you could be liable under the data protection act, so dont be telling your customers.

Anyone holding customers names and addresses has an obligation to protect them.
For this reason i shred all documents.
