Newby after ladder advice
« on: March 07, 2010, 03:16:42 pm »
Hi everyone, just starting up a small round (hopefully) to subsidise my ever decreasing milk round!  Been reading advice and comments posted on this site and i must say you must all the friendliest most helpful people in the world!  Where else can you find competitors trying to help out each other - its brilliant!

Anyway I was wondering what are the best ladders to purchase and why-  wood V aluminium!

Thanks everyone

Martin

You don't say where you are in your profile, but if I was you I would invest in wfp, it is safer and faster than ladder work, especially if you are new to the trade, also the price of wfp need not be more than a good set of ladders, and your earning with wfp should be higher than ladder work.

hi thanks for that.  Im in Bradford West Yorkshire. Never thought of wfp, just assumed the traditional way would be a cheaper start up option. Will be looking into that now. Thanks very much again.

If you are going to look at wfp and you are new to the trade I would suggest starting with a backpack £100 from window cleaning warehouse.

Wooden ladders pros: Cleaner, non-conductive (power lines), They dont get so cold in winter.

Wooden ladder cons: More expensive, Require more maintenance, Usually heavier.

i use aluminium ladders- checkout the weight before you buy them though,as some are too heavy to lug on the shoulder all day.  in my opinion, light is always best
