Conservatories
« on: March 05, 2010, 02:14:23 pm »
i've got the idea of how to price a job for windows and doors, but struggling with conservatories.
What's the best way to price for cleaning them if they are done regular with the windows (excluding the roof) every 4 weeks.

Thanks

I've got a new one who wants windows and con. roof every 6 weeks. They are quite large panels of clear glass, face the sun and are not far off flat (so will perhaps hold lots of muck). I'm thinking maybe £2.50 / panel? will be interested in responses?

Make sure you price them well as  I think it is easy to underprice these.

I now tend to price them based on a certain price per frame of glass (eg £1-£1.50 per frame) and offer them the choice to have the connie windows done with the rest of the house. In affect one price for the house and one for the connie.  Most custies will have them done everytime.

I agree with Hitman you want to charge more for the roof pannels.

Ok, just so that Ive got this right, a coservatory is usuallysectioned vertically & horizontally. So in effect you have glass above glass. Does that make sense?

You price each piece of glass at £1 -£1.50?

Unless the con is built on a dwarf wall, you usually have one lower section of glass from the ground, then a top section then the roof on top of that.

The biggest mistake I ever made in this game was underpricing cons.
when trad, they are easier as you can do most of them without ladders.
When you go WFP, they are no easier than doing the tops
As said above you have to charge more for the ones with full length panes, two panes are the same as a patio door.
Cons with dwarf walls, I charge as two panes equals one window.
We need to think about charging tree tax too. Trees are often overlooked when pricing, but overhanging trees can mean taking twice the cleaning time, especially in the summer.
Roofs take a lot longer, they present a greater target area for birds, and not being vertical can take much longer rinsing.
