That's easy
The round bucket is for sole traders/one man bands - easier to carry as it's in balance.
Rectangular ones are for multi-operative set-ups - they stack together easier - side by side in the van

What a question!!
Custies don't care what u use. The rectangular ones are nothin but rip offs sold by companies who don't give a darn about their customers. In fact the round ones are as well. He should do a DIY one by chewin old paper and mouldin it and put it out in the sun to dry. OK it won't last quite as long but just think of the savins and he will get far more satisfaction out of it coz he can mould it to a shape that suits him.
I see these so called pro's struttin about with their rip off rectangular ones and I can do just as good a job if not better wiv me DIY bucket and squeegee which I made outta 2 bits of wood I found at the local tip and a b;ade made outta a bit cut off an old conveyor belt I found there as well.
I laff at these idiots wastin there hard eaned dole money on stuff wat they don't need.
Oh.. and make sure he don't tell the dole he is workin until he is up n runnin wiv as many custies as be can handle.

He should use an upturned traffic cone... they hold more water and there safer cos u can't really miss it... just don't forget to block the hole with a bit of scrim or hell come back to an empty bucket.

Make sure bucket is suitable for payload of your van and preferably bolt it through the chassis.
