hi folks looking at getting a few more flyers done and just wondering what everyones view is on whats best full colour with pictures or simple black and white flyer explaining all services,i think sometimes people are put off with expensive looking full colour flyers what do you folks think?

Go with full colour has they are more catching to the eye and you will get more customers, It worked for me.

i paid £65 for 10000 a5 white with blue writing,,  i am simply going to play the numbers game, more i get out the more i get in,  when i had my plumbing business, would spend a fortune on advertising and wouldnt get it back,  and then a cheap advert would bring in loads of work

i got two sided full colour gloss flyers, it depends on what type of houses you are going to target. i thought mine may of give over the impression that im dear, they dont on the feedback that ive had, in fact people say they look very professional and so does the rest of the tools that i use when i canvas. i go round in my work clothes which is a smart pair of cargo pants plus a pole shirt and jumper, all sign written, i also have a clip board with an enquiry form for me to fill in all the details.

Hi,I have just set my business up and have done a lot of very successful marketing recently.So my point of view may be some help.
I used A4 Double sided Full colour flyers  with a bold attention grabbing  headline,a free gift coupon with a deadline on it and long copy with a picture of me on it so they can see who thier dealing with.I put these through the door whilst canvassing,that way they are working after you leave the street.They have produced me well over £400 monthly repeat business to date and cost me less than £250.

Leaflets by themselve are very ineffective,Proactive marketing is always best.Have you tried telesales,Or employing canvassers,These are 2 methods i have used to build my business very succcessfully.I am now concentrating on internet marketing which should never be overlooked.

i started writing my own leaflets out on  small strip of cheap coloured paper that i bought in Tesco and marker pen , looked childish and doomed to failure ,but they worked !(just "window cleaner- my number+name)/ i added a silver star sticker to each leaflet .

 later the wrist ache of writing dozens out made me print off lots of copies over at my mums printer . then it was just a case of going out pushing them through doors. i found that a real leg killer so i asked about and got a few women who would do it . i also did a fair bit of doorknocking,but hated the rejection of it

How is the free window clean thing going for you, do you get allot of time wasters with inch thick dirt who you never see again once you've done them or do most take you up for regular cleans?

Simple black and white a5 size leaflets produced on my home pc have brought me in £800 worth of 4 weekly cleans in 6 weeks!!
Keep it simple, put some typical prices on to give them an idea. No special offers (well i didnt ) People do not want to read your life story!!
Then deliver deliver and deliver, then when you get tired deliver some more!!
I found it alot quicker than knocking, covered more houses!!

Kentkleen I agree with you I have also done what you have done to great results. Only in colour I found myself cheat ink on e bay and printed thousands of leaflet no gloss paper, cheap paper from Asda 1.90 a ream of 500 sheets. I think customers see you need business and think you will work hard to get the work. I have got a good amount of customer from these leaflets and I am not cheap my lowest price is 15 quid and average 25 - 30 quid. I have also made a book mark with ribbon and laminate surface this I  flood a area after  my first leaflet drop. I hit then every 6 weeks till get results. I also have plans for a fridge magnet calendar for my next drop. I think if you drop things of use they keep them.

A lot depends on how much competition you have in your area. Dropping leaflets in whats already saturated with windys won't work. You then need to knock on doors. Keep it short and to the point, people get bored if you have a long winded speech lined up for them.

You can drop leaflets first then go back and knock a couple of days later, but I've found that just knocking on doors works just as well and you save money on printing flyers.

This is the method that works for me, I've tried leaflet only in an area and got nothing, but when I door knock and leaflet the not at homes I do ok. Again if you hit uppon an area or street that's not well covered then your laughin.

But I got colour glossy ones printed from 1-2 print.com and they do the job.

I have only just started using this: for commercial clients only,having never priced  
much  commercial work,  i thought i could use the 1 hour free clean as a sales aid and it would give me an idea of how long the job would take helping me to price the job .I will let you know as things progress.Fingers crossed.
On the residential side,the free gift coupon has worked very well and i have kept over 80% of  customers for regular(4/8 weekly) cleans.So it seems to pay.
