gutter cleaning a good earner
« on: February 27, 2010, 01:13:52 pm »
been out today to do 2 gutter cleans on 2 bungelows the recent weather has washed all the poope from the roofs and blocked guttering
only took a few hours at £60 a throw picked up another whilst we were working to do later on today and had another 2 bookings for tomorrow
had a few thousand flyers done to take advantage --strike whilst the irons hot as they say

currently cleaning from a ladder using drain rods and scoops and flushing thro after with hose

only doing 1 and 2 storey work at the present as i wouldnt like to go higher from a ladder

seen the link to the gutter vac system on here for 500 quid
anyone got one and is it worth investing for domestics

also do you ask the custies to use there electric or do you carry a genny
is the finished job as good as if you were using hand tools at least when youre up there you can see the finished article

agree

what im a bit worried about is not being able to see if the gutters are cleaned properly
i know there are camera systems avaliable but not sure the investment would be worth it for domestics

whys that
its a good earner for little outlay when cleaning domestic gutters particually bungelows
i ve just been out doing one took 45 mins for £60
driving back i see 3 windows cleaners working all sign written vans with no ref to gutter cleans i still think there is money in the domestic market as people cant be bothered to do it thereself
where as i seem to be getting undercut on price a lot recently cleaning windows
its probably accounting for 60% of my weekly earnings at the moment

hi rcs,i agree clearing gutters can be a good earner and can be done in any weather-its hard to get clear information about guttervacs on this site but the one for 500 looks good to me and as far as i know you can get a range of extra end attachments from polarvac-i am going to take a chance and order one on monday so i will let you know what i think of it though for 500 i reckon you will get your money back-could be good for high level hoovering on builders cleans and department stores as well

i just dont like doing them anymore!esp using ladders and a bucket!end up smelling like ive been down a ditch!plus i think it can be dangerous off ladders!

i have a full round of window cleaning and i can just about fit in the fascia/soffit and conny roof cleaning in spring/summer!no need for me to clear the crap out of gutters anymore!! ;D ;D

fair play to those who want to specialise in it!

horses for courses and all that! ;)
price higher/work harder!
