IMO, theres no such thing as "patches"

as long as your not going round delibratly under-cutting. Then just keep doing what your doing

All the time. By the same bloke. check this out:
Been told not to go on his "patch", not to clean this one house coz he did it 3 owners and 7 years ago - that's his house on his patch.
been told he'll ave me seen to by his mates,
been told he'll shoot me himself.
he doesn't want to see any of me flyers or cards anywhere - or me and my family is gonna get it !
My van is getting burnt .
my ladder is gonne get cut in half.
My pole is pants ,  doesn't work and leaves streaks everywhere !

TRUE, funny, pathetic but I tell you after a while, it does get you down ! the guy is a maniac.

if they act like that then they wont be legit, its amazing what can happen with a phone call, as much as people go on about being big hard men, its the clever lads who deal with it the smart way ;) . if someone was that threatening with me and i thought they could back it up (i doubt it as you dont mouth of about it, you just do it if your that 'hard') i would do it that way, fook them its a doggy eat dog world out there.

I have had my main round on a estate for 7 years, ive had a good few people come onto the estate and canvass it, at first i was anoyed but now i dont care, not once has anyone ever took work off me and my customers tell them all to sod off. i am now pushing my work more and the amount of work i pick up from customers un happy with their current cleaners is unbelievable. i dont undercut, i cant as i dont know how much their current cleaner charges, i stick to my rate and im good and honest, that what customers are after

We used to get warned off years ago but that was in the past. There are no such things as patches only plokers.

I had one guy when I first started up 13 years ago. He wasn't particularly threatening though. He just claimed he had been doing the area for 40 odd years and that I was taking his customers from him. When he saw me I was doing one of his ex-customer's houses. She heard our conversation, came out and told him she wanted me instead of him 'cos I cleaned them properly!

I saw him a few times after that, when he would always give me the benefit of his experience and amusing sarcasm. He and his mate (who always said nothing) used damp cloths, with not a bucket in sight! Glad I declined his advice!  :D

Being diplomatic is being able to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.
